If we are truly talking about "fiscal responsibility" -- it simply doesn't exist. I don't care what your politics are, but fiscal responsibility is just as much about where you put the money as restraining spending. I don't know I've ever seen either side do both at the same time.
until reagan told the american people that inflation would drop and they believed it volkers contraction of the money supply didn't do crap. obama should take a lesson about the power of positive thought when it comes to the presidentcy.
spending two trillion dollars in your first month as President is utterly ridiculous and positively stupid as well.
I'm not disagreeing that the placement of his spending deserves a lot of questioning, but the amount is not a big deal. I don't care if we had the foresight to put the money exactly where it was needed to save this economy -- $2T would be a bargain.

truefan is about as economically ignorant as the president and thus his opinions on the matter aren't worth listening to. hmy:
There couldn't have been a more positive and inspirational speech than was given last night. He even had the republicans standing/clapping more than usual from the minority party
I am putting aside my politics for a minute:
This was nowhere in the neighborhood of a great speech, look back at the great speeches given by both Democrat and Republican presidents of the past for evidence. This is a slobbering statement without the presence of any objective thinking. Bush gave a speech or two after 911 that were every bit as positive and inspiring and he was pretty horrible.
My economic ignorance, as you call it, is miles beyond any knowledge you have in such matters. As for Droski's statment, it is totally fabricated. I have never said raising taxes on the most wealthy would be any sort of stimulus to our economy. As far as you are concerned, you will never be at a level where your affirmation of my knowledge of anything has any consequence.
Maybe so, but you are neither smart enough nor educated enough to know whether the overall impact is positive or negative at this point.
The bad thing is that we will not know the full range of positive impact for many years to come, much of the spending in this bill is government contract stuff. A large portion will not break ground for at least 2 to 3 years.

Why is it funny?
The speech was adequate at best.
This has to be the funniest statement I have seen in a while. I have seen none of your opinions(in this forum) that aren't influenced by your politics.
Okay. Then (LOL) you must concede Jindal's was pathetic. Since we are being objective as to the quality of last night's speeches. If we get into nothing but delivery, then the gap widens even further between the one our president gave and the response from the GOP.
Which is why I stated that I was putting those aside to be objective. I actually thought about it for a minute and looked back to compare this speech with the great speeches that inspired Americans through the generations, Obama's does not belong in the top 15 period. These are great speeches that were given by both Democrat and Republican presidents.
Please explain to me how I was not being objective here?
