The NHL thread (Buffalo, well at least you are not Cleveland)

The Caps are finally playing like the Caps. Talk about a role reversal, but the Caps are in Avery's head... go figure.

I suppose you're talking about the antics of that no talent moullion Brashear. I wish Bob Probert would come back and beat that guy into a coma.

Heck of a game tonight, Rangers PP was miserable, and the PK got the job done, despite being shaky throughout. Good win for Hank, , need to close this out Friday and get Drury healthy and rested for Boston.

I was hoping the Pens would wrap it up at home tonight, we got to go back to Philly on Saturday. This series may go the best of seven now.

The rangers have played great playoff hockey thus far (expect for game 3). While I think the Caps will win game 5, the BOS-NYR series would be a good one. Considering my hate for boston I might even have to cheer for the rangers. Antropov was a great pickup for your guys, he has controlled the Caps forecheck very well.

Back from the caps rangers game... Aside from a rags fan whose dentures fell out of his mouth while trash talking and having his wife restrain him when I told him to go back to jersey, it was a great atmosphere. Btw the guy who tossed beer on torterella was actually an isles fan.

Also torts throwing a bottle of water into the stands and hitting a woman is among the lowest points in sports history. The day a coach starts assaulting opposing fans is the day said coach should be fired.

I'm thinking about heading down to the city tomorrow afternoon, but i'm balking at spending probably $225 a seat or so...,Not that i care, but i imagine the wife will be less than happy haha.

Caps were on point last night, well played game.

lol I can understand the wife issue. But in all honesty it should be a great game and would be totally worth the $225.

As a side note - how about 2 shutouts in 4 playoff games by a rookie goalie with a .075 GAA and .970 save pct?

Great Keeping by Varlamov...what a sad story Theodore is though, he started his career so well, now he's shaky at best.

I'm going to pass on the Garden tomorrow, though i trip up to Yawkey Way might be in the cards for Sox/Empire, if im going to get hollered at it'll be for baseball haha.

That Erskine is a real SOB, fun player to watch though, i like his style.

I'm sure glad we came back and won game 6, another round of playoffs, and a good cause for a happy hour. Go Pens.

great series dcgf, good luck down the road.

Thanks. Aye, it was a very entertaining series for both sides. Torts has your guys moving in the right direction, at least as long as he can refrain from throwing water bottles at fans :) Gomez amazed me at the game today, he looked like he was moving at twice the speed of every other player on the ice. Callahan played great both ways and was amazing on the play in the 2nd period where he blocked the pass to the guy with the wide open net. The team as a whole showed both heart and grit throughout the series. I gained a lot of respect for 'em.

All that said, I bet that the NHL marketing guys are dancing in the streets at the washington-pittsburgh matchup. I'm sure it will be billed as the OVechkin-Crosby battle to the death lol. I'm just hoping the series starts on saturday so that our guys can get some rest.

I have a feeling this Pitt v Wash series is going to be one of the most exciting this post season. I'm already on my toes and it's only 2 periods in.

I have a feeling the Caps-Pens series will be going the full 7 games. There was some sloppy play of both sides but for the most part it was an even game. I was at the game so I didn't realize just how amazing that Varlamov save was until I got home and saw the replay. The Penguins fans at the game (roughly 200) were the most behaved they have been all season... I was a bit shocked. Also well behaved was crosby, he wasn't whining as much as usual but that is probably because the caps took almost 3x as many penalty calls as the pens.

Can't wait to go to game 2, and GO CAPS.
