See, when I talk about Noah, its in the context of what he has done for UF., When you talk about Meacham, its ion the context of what will one day do ... for Meacham.

I'd say Meachem's accomplishments on the field this year were as impressive or more impressive than what Noah has accomplished on the court this year.

And, outside of the State of Tennesee, you would be institutionalized for saying it.

Find one post i've ever posted here where i mock his looks.

I don't like him, first and foremost, because he plays for FL. It also doesn't help that they are good. It also doesn't help that he is good.

but some how i sleep at night knowing that Bruce Pearl is 3-1 against him.
Geez, you'd think Super Noah could've at least elevated Florida to the point of beating poor ol mediocre Tennessee on a consistent basis.

You don't like him because of how he looks, first and foremost. Also because of how he acts, which is brash and with swagger. And it makes you mad that he has boosted a hated rival to the top of the game. Don't pretend you don't think he's incredibly valuable to a very good basketball team. Anyone who has watched Florida in the last two years can see the obvious.

No doubt the Gators are on top of the college b-ball world but isn't an undersized and less talented team 3-1 against them during this period?

Noah has been UF's Dane Bradshaw. Athletically limited, but looks better because he plays with a superstar (in Noah's case 3 superstars)

Maybe mediocre was not the right word. Tennessee has had an excellent season and deserves to be congratulated. The program is on the way up.

But, UT has simply not had the success of Florida in the last two years. No one has.

What was it? Seriously.
the gist of it was your ridiculing of us for praising Lofton for 2nd team AA.

you said you hated individual awards in team sports and spent many, many, many posts alluding to the fact that is was "nice" and "ok", but that team awards were where it's at, which is convenient for you since FL has both trophies right now.

and my retort basically summed it up by stating:

how 'bout this........i'm very happy with what this TEAM has been able to accomplish in such a short amount of time, and this TEAM is something to be very proud of.

i never bashed you or anything, i just called you out on your "back handed compliment". if that ruffled your feathers, hate it for you.

what we don't need is some sanctimonious pompas gator fan holding a trophy in each hand coming in here and saying:
Wow, great honor indeed, but individual honors are stupid, in fact, i hate individual awards. the only ones that matter are TEAM awards--see we have two! but nice job anyway..wink, wink.

so enjoy your trophies, have fun in the final four.....

What is it with you and always using hatvol to prove a point? You always make a long-winded rant and qualify it with "just ask hatvol, he'll agree with me!" Who cares?

Primarily because I think everyone respects his opinion and his objectivity, particularly on basketball knowledge. And Hatvol has posted many times, regardless of the sport, that he sees a huge difference between what a guy does for UT when he's there, versus the minimal residual benefit to UT of what he does when he's gone to the next level.

And I was explaining, in that regard, the difference between my rolling my eyes and posts about how great it will be for Meacham when he's drafted, versus my singling out what a tremendous show of character Noah has made in that, despite the fact that people taunt him relentlessly, he has taken UF to the top of the game.

He's taken WAY more than those guys. The constant mocking of his looks. Hell, even the cheerleaders have been getting on his case "You're so ugly."

I tell you, if UF cheerleaders jumped on such a lame bandwagon and taunted some gangly 20 year old trying to find his way in the world, I'd be pissed at them and what them off my court.

that is not even close to being true. Those guys took national abuse and are all time greats. Noah will be forgotton in a few years.

Noah is not the sole reason for UF's success. You should be thanking Horford, Brewer and Green

Yet another post exposing your abject ignorance about college basketball. In case you didn't know, which you apparently don't, the college game was actually played for many seasons before last year. Your little rant today exposes the best Johnny Come Lately instincts among Gator fans. Your program has been relevant for about 8 minutes, and will cease being so as soon as this season is over, yet you act like you're North Carolina. To say Noah caught more heat than the guys I referenced shows your knowledge of college basketball history could fit in a thimble. People dislike Noah because he's an overhyped, NBA bust in waiting. He's the fourth best player on his own team, yet everyone is exposed to these halfwit ramblings about how persecuted he is.

You're right, I do respect and agree with hatvol's opinion of Noah.

I understand how it might seem inconsistent to you. The difference is that Lofton has been praised continuously for his efforts (as he should be) and my point was that Noah, despite being the subject of some really hateful stuff, has nonetheless persevered. And a lot of that type of hateful stuff has been right here. At Volnation.

So, yes, I get a little defensive about it. And, yes, I get proud of the fact that this UF kid pours his heart out into the game every week for the Gators depsite the fact that he is just tormented by people that want him to fail because they don't like what he looks like.

Corey Brewer, Al Horford, Lee Humphrey and Taurean Green deserve as much credit as Noah...for someone who doesn't like to talk about individual achievements in team sports, you sure are blowing Noah like he's a one-man team.

I'm sure they have never said a negative word about UT or it's players over at the Gator sites.

bottom line LG is this......those trophies have gone to your head. the view from the top of your nose must be getting better and better each day, if you honestly think you are going post that article on this board and expect all of us to go "you know what, that Noah kid, they're right. what a raw deal he got"

he plays for FL. they won a nt and are in the final four again. they won the SEC again. they are also one of our division rivals. and let's face it, he is funny lookin'. He is brash. He is cocky and he was not afraid last year to show it off.......so he got it back this year, big damn deal. from the looks of things it didn't hurt the team too much, so my only question is why in the hell do you care what we think when you and FL are on the mountain top? what validation do you need from volnation? Esp, when you know going in you aren't going to get it.......it's kind of like a self fulfilling prophecy--"I bet these TN fans aren't going to like Noah.......see i was right" kind of thing.

you really just shouldn't be all that surprised, OR OFFENDED at this.

If UCLA wins the title this year, they will have been more successful than Florida the last two seasons.
