The Obligatory Post-loss Bruce Pearl thread (merged)

He should have been recruiting kids for years. He's just changed addresses. He's not creating some new unknown style of basketball that noone's ever seen before.

You guys are pretending that kids commit to a school and not the coach. This is college BB we're talking about here.

Are you suggesting that martin should focus on the same talent pool he was recruiting at Missouri state for Tennessee?

By the recruits he's brought in so far, I'd say he has been getting players he's been recruiting while at Missouri State.

Outside of Josh Richardson and Yemi I agree. Washpun looks like a washup. Dwight Miller could end up being a solid rotational player. I think Yemi is going to be REALLY good by the time he leaves the Hill. Richardson will be a solid player as well. Yemi's limited time playing ball mixed with his play so far has me really encouraged about his potential.

Washpun has been average all year with the exception of the AP game. He is a freshman and hasn't been turning the ball over.

He is not a scoring PG but to say he is a washup is premature.

He may develop into a solid player, but I just don't see it. The kid can jump, but that is all I have seen. He looks lost on offense, isn't nearly as quick as I hoped he would be on defense. I just haven't been impressed by his game at all TBH.

He looks identical to Trae Golden last year. Lost ball in high weeds. If he makes the leap that Golden has in one year, he will be more than serviceable. It could also allow Golden to get some minutes at SG, his natural position.

I'm trying to figure this one out as well...

Martin should be recruiting kids he can win with regardless of the school he is employed by.

Every coach takes the players they've been recruiting at their old job to their new gig. Why should Martin be any different? Unless you are saying Martin is in over his head and has never recruited, coached, or even talked to players that would win in the SEC. If that is your claim, then you may have a point.
