The "Occupy" Rallies

They're protesting a lot of different things.

True.

But can you shed some light on what results they are hoping to accomplish? Other than universal student loan forgiveness, I can't figure anything out.

Which is just a brilliant strategy. Get a bunch of goofballs college kids, pay them to show up and present a disjointed message. Some of those MFers apparently failed Protesting 101, which is available at places like NYU.

LG explained it. It's twenty years of middle class and everyone else being screwed by 1%. American plight is due to the 1% and always has been. If the country was made up of just the 99% crowd, would be utopia.

Ridiculous intentional misstatement of what I'm saying.

The protestors are not saying you don't have the right to make a lot of money if you actually do something, invest well, etc.

What they are saying is that you can't: 1) buy off regulators and Congresspeople or the POTUS to give you tons of taxpayer money for a bailout, for which you are at least partially and significantly responsible; 2) personally making insane amounts of money; 3) sheltering yourself and your friends and business associates from taxes or oversight so that you can make even more; while 4) the other 99 percent have their wages stay basically flat in real terms for four decades.

Someone is paying all these college kids to protest?

Link?

Good one LG. These idiots being paid to protest should be able to tell those working what they should be able to do with their own damn money.

A moment ago you said the college kids are getting paid to protest. Where is that claim coming from?

I'm a little confused. They aren't saying you don't have to right to make a ton of money, but one of their platforms is "you can't make a ton of money"?

Got interrupted as I typed #3, sorry.

Its the use and abuse of the political system by the super rich and corporations to make personal fortunes while basically f'ing up the economy and dumping it in the laps of the rest of us that has people a wee bit miffed.

The people who buy this explanation deserve the administration we have in office and I'm shocked that they have the time to protest for a couple weeks.

and yet you saw the Tea Party protests as motivated by racism, despite their calls for fiscal responsibility, which included an end to corporate welfare and crony capitalism

If that is a platform of these protestors (and I don't see how you were able to determine that), then shouldn't they be protesting Congress, or the White House? Wall Street didn't force the government to bail them out.

LG knows all thoughts before they are thought.

The only thing they seem to voice, as one voice, is that they want the people that make money to pay off their loans.

It's likely from more reading than you do.

The Daily Caller? Breitbart? Why not just go ahead and give control of your essence and mojo to Murdoch now and save everyone some time?

First, my initial criticism of the TP as based primarily or even wholly on racial politics was misplaced. Sure, there was some of that, but not as much as I thought. Second, for quite some time the base of the TP allowed its message solely of fiscal conservatism to get "out shouted," if you will, by the less savory elements. But they stuck to their guns and, to their credit, the TP has become a significant force for fiscal restraint by the federal government.

The base of the occupy rallies is currently in danger of getting coopted by the unions and the single issue folks. Freaking idiots like Pelosi trying to spin this as a pro-Democrat thing, or trying to take some ownership of the rallies pi**es me off. She should shut her trap.

Hopefully, the anti-cronyism message of both the TP and the occupy rallies will have staying power. The TP message being that it should not result in massive spending on stupid crap, the occupy rally message that it shouldn't result in regulators looking the other way at shenanigans, and BOTH being that it should not result in middle class tax dollars winding their way into the pockets of the uber wealthy.

LG, I read a load and from all angles. Seeing through the garbage is a skill refined only by reading all the garbage.

Let's assume that your thinking as to the merit of their underlying argument were correct.

Is it not also the case that they have some good reason to be ticked?

I'm pissed at Wall St parasytes and the federal government, too. But my reaction is not to start protesting for student loan forgiveness.
