The "Occupy" Rallies

Right. Dismiss them as lazy and whiny. Its not like there is a 9 % unemployment rate and kids graduating from college have little prospect of finding a good job. Because they are lazy.

And yet they are protesting the very entities that provide jobs.

They aren't protesting a single entity.

And it was a girl who got the signatures.

You know, there is actually a common thread in terms of policy between the TP and these protests, which is a shared disdain for tax dollars being used to bail out Wall Street.

And there is a great argument to be made for that. But both groups are coming from different angles. The Tea Party believes that the government shouldn't be wasting tax dollars on propping up failing companies, while these folks (depending on which protestor is getting air time) don't want corporations bailed out because of "corporate greed".

He could have been much more efficient with his time if he found a new bank and then looked for a job (I am assuming he is unemployed) in the time he saved not collecting signatures.

This. if he didn't like boa's fees switch banks or pay with cash

Where was this kid and his 153k signers when the Durbin Amendment was being voted on?

would love to hear him or the 153k signers explain why BoA felt the need to add the fee. I'm guessing 99% get it wrong (just like LG did)

You want to see how broad-based this is?

A 22 year-old collected 153,000 petition signatures protesting Bank of America's $5 a month check card fee.

Wouldn't it have made more sense for them to just pull their money out of BoA? Just like the Netflix customers did (vote with your feet)?

Again, ignore the dramatic polarization between the haves and the havenots in this country at your own peril.
Well then what's your plan? In fact let's hear their plan. I bet they couldn't come up with anything worth a damn. Just a bunch of high school dropouts whining about someone who made something of themselves.

Hey, if they got the wrong way, one day they'll have to answer for that. The idea of punishing prosperty just so lazy Joe doesn't have to miss Dr Phil, or shantae has 6 kids on purpose for you too pay for is ludicris.

Change the tax code and stop the class warfare. It's uneducated babble and that's about it.

Not really much difference, in the end.

She presented the signatures at her local bank as she closed her own account. She says she believes thousands of others have also closed their accounts, though we'll never really know the answer to that.

"Kill the rich?" What happened to the new era of civilty? Where's the media outrage?

Only loons would say "kill" the rich. And I don't think that many of the protestors object to the opportunity to "get rich."

Its the perception that is a walled-off club, and that the super wealthy own the politicians, who in turn act to protect the wealthiest from taxes and regulation that allows them to get even more rich.

I mean, to some degree, that is always the perception. But when that seems to be going on at these simply astronomical numbers while everyone else is struggling to stay afloat, you are going to hear some pretty vocal complaining.

a little research answered my question

She said the petioners are not interested in hearing the bank's reasons for the proposed increase: regulation and economics.

"The average Bank of America customer is not up to date on the latest regulatory news. They're looking at the fee, and they're angry," she said.
just proves that all those online petitions are crap

Not really much difference, in the end.

I disagree with that. The Tea Party has a set of grievances, but they also have a set of preferred ends. The protestors seems to only have the former.

Again I ask, where was she and her fellow signers when the Durbin Amendment was being debated? It's one thing to protest a result; it's another thing to protest the cause.

see above, she said they don't care about the why

Interesting. Cantor spoke to a conservative group and called the protestors mobs and complained that Obama is using class warfare.

The audience response was largely silence.

were they supposed to faint like when the messiah speaks?

Probably epected it to be like one of his town hall meetings. You know they ones where if he told them that he was going to eat their children, they'd clap and cheer and hoop and holler like mindless zombies.

I still think the Durbin rant on the Senate floor targeting a single company (BoA) because of a fee they added is highly disturbing. Highly inappropriate.

Some of you dismiss the protestors as simply lazy. Like Cain does.

But they aren't protesting because they are lazy. They have no problem with people getting rich through hard work and smart investing.

What makes them mad is the perception that Wall Street is rigged. That they can;t get in and that the folks at the top have coopted politicians to keep it that way.
