The Offensive Line Freeze play

I find it stunningly hilarious that someone is arguing that this play can't get your QB killed when it is --if I am not mistaken-- the exact play that Peterman broke his hand on.

It wasn't the guy who jumped, the defensive end on the left side of the field was lined up way past the neutral zone. Thats what Butch was going ballistic about on the sidelines. Thats also why the offensive line didnt move, They saw him offsides. As far as the QB goes, he is suppose to get rid of the ball in a two step drop and if a defensive player is going at the quarterback with a free path the referee is suppose to blow the play dead. Problem was they didnt call the offsides. Also peterman hit the players helmet. that happens during normal play also.

Unevaded to the quarterback is an NFL rule. Not an NCAA rule.

The broken hand is a result of Peterman not doing what he was coached to do (2 step drop). The O-Line did exactly what they are coached to do.

I see both sides of the debate. Personnaly, I like the freeze - I think the odds are in your favor. Too often the OL gets unjustly called for reacting to DL movement.

Poorly executed by Peterman and completely blown call by refs.

Question about the DL that moved , though : I thought the rule changed a few years back and it was encroachment if they were in the neutral zone whether they retreated prior to the snap or not.
