The Office: Season 6 Thread

without a doubt. It was 20x better when they were friends. Also liked it better when Jan was the boss.

The problem with Jim/Pam is everyone loves it when they are flirting and chasing each other, but after they finally hook up, then there's only so much furter they can go. They've already gotten engaged, married, and had a kid. Not a lot else to do there, which is why for next season they really need to downplay them and their private lives and focus on Jim and Pam at work. Get Jim back into the prank stuff and all that junk.

Should be the last either way.

Agree 100%. The show peaked 3-4 years ago and has been on a downward slide ever since. Not saying there haven't been some good moments, but that 2nd and 3rd season just set the bar so high that it was going to be difficult to go anywhere but down from there.

if anyone was to replace carrell, he would be it. i love gervais....although i'm not too sure how he would fit in with the american show.

They need to bring David Wallace back as CEO. Wallace could then "reward" Michael Scott's loyalty and promote him to corporate as a way to leave the show. It would also leave the door open for any future guest appearances.

Ken Marino played a similar role to Michael Scott in Party Down and would be a good fit on the show.

All these ideas would be great if the show were still going strong, but honestly, it's not that good anymore and hasn't been for a couple of years. It still has its moments for sure, but nothing like those first 3 seasons. Maybe the writers can recapture the magic at some point, but that's rare in TV. I imagine The Office's best days are behind it.

Wonder if Krasinzki will stay on after Carrell leaves. He has success in movies so it might be better for him to jump ship!

Personally I think next season should be the last.

However, IF they do another season after, and I'm assuming at best it could survive only one season without Carrell, here's the idea I thought of that might work:

Instead of making someone Michael's replacement, have several guest stars try to fill the role. For example, say they promote Packard to manager and let him do it for 1-2 episodes and then they decide he's not working. After that bring in guest stars that would last for about 2 episodes, like Stephen Colbert, Paul Rudd, you know those type actors. By the end of the season, they still don't have the replacement and have the series finale be Ricky Gervais coming in reprising his David Brent character to interview for the job and the same time Michael shows back up to say he's taking the job back.
