The Office: Season 8

Dang. I thought I said something on here earlier about Andy starting his own paper company like Michael did and I came in here to quote it and say I called it. Guess I kept it to myself.

Even though I still don't care a whole lot for the storyline, last nights episode did have several laughs. When Dwight tied the door shut with his belt and then slid into the elevator only to have the door stay open for at least 5 more seconds was the most I've laughed during an episode of The Office in months.

That whole elevator/Dwight's pants scene was good. I haven't laughed like that to an episode since Dwight sprayed the "planking" Meredith with the fire extinguisher.

The idea of the episode was good but the execution overall I thought sucked.

The only thing I liked was Jim and Dwight teaming up, there were a few laughs. But the whole trying to make Nellie sympathetic is awful, and the whole Andy thing is a weird somewhat rehash of the Michael Scott Paper Company and also him hanging around all the time is a definite rehash of David Brent doing so in the original series. And they have completely ruined California.

And I'm guessing this "David Wallace got magically filthy rich" thing is going to stick.

I missed most of last nights episode. I did notice that Nellie was missing for most of the show I did see.

Oh and California being able to close down a branch in one drunken night isn't even close to realistic. I know you have to take this show with a grain of salt but there's no way I'm buying that.

I watched the first 3 episodes and haven't watched an episode since. It's not the same anymore. The writers are running out of ammo.

For a second there I thought they were actually going to play the "Andy is literally crazy" card.

Weird episode, but not bad. The scene with Jim ripping Dwight's outfit off was hilarious.

I watched last night knowing it will be my last new episode ever. I was curious to see how they'd write Kelly off the show, but never saw it. Was that part of the last :30segment? My DVR cut off before that.

There were a lot of good laughs in last nights episode. Not a bad way to go out if for some reason they don't get renewed for next year.

No way it gets axed before next year. Even 30 Rock, Community, and Parks and Rec will get 13 episodes for next year, and they were just canceled.

it wasn't that great. Dwight and jim are really keeping the show going. I guess they're going to push the gay agenda more. it's getting worse.

All 3 of those were renewed. 30 Rock is getting 13 and it's confirmed it will be the last season. Community is getting 13 as well so you can assume it will be their last season as well. Parks and Rec probably has at least 2 more unless the ratings just totally go to crap next season.

The Office, as much as its ratings have dropped, still is higher than those, so it will be back.

Just watched the finale.....I'm convinced the writers either don't know what they're doing or they just don't care.

I can't believe they even left the door open for Nellie to return.

Just watched the finale, loved it.

The opening was one of the best in recent memory, Kevin crying was laugh out loud funny for me.

I've been with this show from the beginning, and have seen virtually every episode multiple times. While it may not be as good as it was many years ago, it is still a very good show. It is simply a different show than it was with Michael Scott, and anyone watching it that expects it to be the same is not going to be able to enjoy it. To enjoy the show in its current format, you have to let Michael Scott go.

The depth of the supporting cast, especially the little side-plots like the Senator, Ryan's creepiness with Kelly, and Kevin and Darryl's characters having more of a vital role have been very good, imo.

To each their own I guess, I thought it sucked. And I can't speak for everyone who didn't like Season 8, but my dislike goes well beyond Michael Scott not being there.

Honestly I though the first half of the season was as good or better than the previous couple of seasons had been. However, once they got into the Tallahassee storyline with Nellie, etc. the season went downhill QUICKLY.

The first half is definitely better than the last half, I'll give you that; I never thought any part of the season has been even as good as Seasons 5-7, but it did seem like they were trying. The first Tallahassee episode seems like the climax of this season, as I really enjoyed Jim and Dwight's interactions, but after that it's like the writers had no idea what they were doing or where they wanted to go.
