The Office: Season 8

Last night's episode was really weird. It had some funny moments, but it seemed like there were several writers and each one wanted to take the show in a different direction.

The Nellie character needed to be left in Florida. She was a good fit for that short part of the season, but she is pointless and annoying now.

That's how I pretty much felt, that there were funny parts last night but the fact Nellie was there would suck the show back down.

The "Nellie is now manager" storyline is just simply idiotic and the writers obviously can't keep anything straight. Why did no one have Andy's back? They spend most of the season showing the staff trying to be supportive and help him grow into the position, and even spent most of last episode planning a spite party for Nellie and now they just take orders from her? Why is Dwight helping her when she would have betrayed him in FL? And it was totally out of character for Jim and Pam to just totally sit back and watch Andy get fired.

The only explanation I can think of for Dwight helping Nellie is that they are trying to recreate the dymanic Dwight had with Scott. It's going to be very hard for them to do because Nellie is no where near the character Scott was. IMO if they try to develop it that way it would really bury this show.

so is andy gone? i was really disappointed about the show. the side stories are much better, but were clueless that andy quit. this could be the beginning of the end.

I don't think so, though I've read Helms has not resigned his contract for next season yet, so he may not return. And he didn't quit he was fired.

I'm officially done with this show. It has evolved from a great show into one of the worst shows I've ever intentionally watched. I'd rather watch Up All Night on my DVR than The Office now...and that's saying something.

I'm still enjoying this season. No, not everything makes sense, but the humor is still there. I will be disappointed if Andy is gone, as he's my favorite character

I don't care for the Nellie character either. And I'm really confused with the firing of Andy and where that's supposed to lead. No matter how bad it gets, I guess I'll keep watching until the bitter end. I've been in it this long, might as well see it to the end.

I believe it's no coincidence that since she's returned, the series is getting the lowest ratings its ever had.

Nellie doesn't know what a taco is? Or how much one is? And when she gets it, she doesn't know how to eat it? Somebody actually wrote that?

I also have a hard time believing Dwight doesn't know what a silent auction is. I thought that part was kind of funny, especially when he started celebrating, but still.

Props for David Wallace though, although I find it hard to believe we're supposed to believe he got $20 million for Suck It. I kept waiting for them to cut to him telling the camera he just made that up.

That was the weirdest part to me. That doesn't even make sense it was a terrible idea. I thought the Dwight part was pretty funny. Ryan at the beginning was dumb imo.

Yeah, that was pretty lame. Last night's episode was evident that the writers had no real ideas and just threw some crap together. Easily one of the worst episodes they have ever made.

Last nights episode seemed like they needed a filler episode. They didn't really add to the story much. The Dwight part was funny. I love the back and forth with him and Jim. I think they could do a bunch of shows just about Jim and Dwight. I was kind of in-different to last nights show. I didn't hate it but I didn't love it either

Why in the world would they need a filler episode? I think what you're describing is just bad and/or lazy writing.

I agree on the Dwight and Jim part, and they were doing that in Florida, then some idiot decided instead of keeping that up, they'll go with more Nellie.

Apparently the finale has Andy's "old boss" coming in to help Andy get his job back. The talk is Wallace is going to take the $20 million and buy controlling interest in Sabre, and reinstating Andy as branch manager. The getting $20 million part is incredibly stupid to me, but I can see this happenng since we know California won't be back next season.

Maybe you are right, but just seemed like an episode that didn't really move the story line along very well

Man NBC is hurting; The Office's ratings continue to drop like a rock, it set another series low 4.17, yet it's the highest of the 4 comedies.

Which is absurd because of the 4 comedies, the Office is now far and away the worst. I guess it's just getting by on past glory, but Parks and Rec, Community and 30 Rock are all MILES better than the office right now. Honestly I'm not even entirely sure why I still watch The Office on a weekly basis.

This. Each week seems to be hit or miss for each show, but overall the other three are better than The Office right now. The last episode was pretty pathetic, especially with the whole "taco" thing.

Parks and rec is great

I agree completely. Parks and Rec for me is the best of the 4, and The Office is a very distant 4th. Heck I enjoyed Up All Night more than The Office this season.

30 Rock is usually solid; Community is kind of hit or miss, usually hit.
