The Office: Season 8

Un-freakin-believable.....Tate is going to be a full-time cast member next season.

I give up. The writers are officially retarded.

Next season needs to be the last. This show will almost be unrecognizable from the first few seasons. Tate's character is unbearable.

The Office seems to definitely be taking a That 70's Show-esque route in terms of how the show looked at the beginning compared to the end. Although Nellie might be substantially worse than the guy who replaced Kelso.

You mean Eric; the goofy long haired guy they brought in was supposed to be Eric's replacement. In fact originally he was supposed to BE Eric but they realized the fan outcry would be huge.

I'm actually kind of glad Novak is gone, his character has been worthless since Season 4; I was ok with him getting hired by Michael for the MS Paper Company but when that went away his character needed to as well. There's no way Wallace would have agreed for Ryan to come back to DM, even as a temp.

And I'm not shedding a tear for Kelly Kapoor being gone either, another character who's been pretty worthless a while now.

Dropping 3 worthless characters since last year (Ryan, Kelly, and California, a character they ruined) would actually given me a bit of hope if Tate wasn't coming back. After Dwight leaves for what I assume will be a failed spinoff, it's really going to suck. Since Paul Lieberstein will be over Dwight's spinoff he's not going to be on The Office much this season either. Again less could be more but I'm guessing since it seems they dont' know what they're doing anymore, they'll probably bring in more silly replacement characters.

If it's true that Carrell will never be on again in any capacity, they should just end the series now. If the show really sucks next season, a cameo would be the only thing to look forward to.

Eh...I'd rather them not. They've already had 2 wedding episodes and I thought Jim and Pam's was pretty bad. The whole dancing thing was cringe-worthy.

That episode pissed me off. Soon as they got married I felt the show died. Carell was the only thing keeping it watchable for me.

I actually thought Jim and Pam's wedding (both parts) was one of the better episodes of the series.

I would have had much less of a problem with it had they not done the dance number. That was awful, and so opposite of what the show used to be about.

I liked the dance number, thought it was cool. Michael Scott was always watching youtube videos, so it makes sense that he would want to try and make his own.

If he was still on the show, I'm sure there would have been a Michael Scott/Dunder Mifflin "Call Me Maybe" video as well.

Wow! I wonder if you started watching the show on that post Super Bowl episode.
You should give seasons 1-3 a view. Clearly, you haven't seen those yet.

I have seasons 2-5 and 7 so I have seen them. The wedding episode was hilarious to me including the dancing part.

This. I try not to be an early season snob but the Jim/Pam wedding is generally regarded as one of the worst episodes by fans (seasons 1-7).

I laughed pretty hard when Dwight found twins in the wedding episode. But overall I see that episode as the beginning of the end of the series being great. The Michael/Holly deal made things borderline unwatchable

I consider the Super Bowl ep as the beginning of the end. That's when the obvious jokes were introduced.
As for the wedding episode, if you find the scrotum-injury or Dwight's wedding-march-kick funny, then I wonder why you enjoyed the first three seasons.
I'm truly surprised they haven't added a laugh-track.

I've often wondered how this show would be viewed if it had either been cancelled or the writers had basically dropped the mic and walked offstage at the conclusion of season 3. The show was still at the top of it's game and the Jim/Pam storyline was (vaguely) resolved, Jan had just moved in with Michael and Ryan had gotten the job with corporate. IMO this was the high point of the show.

That's the tricky thing with TV shows though. We complain about not getting enough of the ones that aren't given a fair shake and cancelled too soon, and complain about the ones that stick around when the writers inevitably run out of ideas and run the show into the ground. Very few shows last as long as The Office has without getting noticeably worse in the final few years of the show. Seinfeld (IMO, the best show ever) probably came the closest of any show in my lifetime to going out while it was still on top. But even that show changed in its final years. But with Seinfeld it wasn't so much of a decline, the show was just a little different once Larry David left.
