The Office: Season 8

The wedding just makes sense, considering how big him finding a wife was a huge storyline focuse for pretty much the entire series. And I would think it would make sense for him to come back for the series finale, whenever that is.

Trying to do it like ER is a bad idea; I believe that worked on ER because it was a drama, with comedies it's way harder to just replace people.

I think the problem with Jim/Pam is they're the only ones that have really "grown up" or moved along in their lives. Everyone else in the office is almost the same. So really it wouldn't make sense for Jim to be the same prankster goof off he was years ago, but that was also one of the best things about the show early on, his "fued" with Dwight.

I agree with all of this. Looks like you and I will be having some good chats come Season 8. I really don't think I can continue watching the show if they pull an ER.

I used to be a huge Scrubs fan, and after Season 8 when they had that 1 last season with an almost entirely new cast it completely ruined the show.

Who do you think will be the new regional manager? I was really hoping for James Spader, but it's cool that he's still going to be on the show. I also liked Will Arnett a lot, but I'm guessing it won't be him since he's starring in a new show. Right now I'm thinking it'll be Darryl or Jim. I think Jim may decide to step up and take the job, even though he rejected the offer in S7. I also have a hunch it could be Andy. It has already been confirmed that his family will be featured in this season, so maybe it'll have to do with him becoming RM.

I am really pumped for the Office to be back on. I am not really sure how I feel about the new boss choice though. But I will give it a shot.

All I know is Andy's ass better get Erin.

Could be referring that this season will be terrible and NBC will cut it.

Wikipedia said:
All the warehouse workers win the lottery - after they win and quit, everyone in the office dreams of what it would be like to win big. Andy (Ed Helms) and Darryl (Craig Robinson) search for new warehouse employees, while Jim (John Krasinski), Erin (Ellie Kemper), Dwight (Rainn Wilson) and Kevin (Brian Baumgartner) get a taste of warehouse life.

This is the plot for "Lotto", the third episode. It looks as if Andy is the new regional manager.

This is what I meant, but only halfway joking. I think NBC will milk the non-Michael Scott Office as long as they can. I just think at most it will be 2 seasons.

I thought Andy was such a d*** character in season 3. But as the show has gone on, the character has really developed. He's one of my favorites now. I wouldn't mind him being promoted, but I'm not sure how "qualified" he really is. He's known as a terrible salesmen on the show. However maybe they are making that one scene from late S7 when him and DeAngelo try and save a top customer and DeAngelo does a horrible job, but Andy goes back and saves the client. Maybe they are using that as a "turning point" for the confidence of Andy.

And also, Ed Helms is the biggest actor on the show now. That helps make a case for him. It'll be interesting to see how it turns out. I just hope this season isn't horrible.

I've been a fan of the show since the beginning, but I just don't see it going on much farther without Steve Carell. He was the star of the show and there is a big void left behind that I don't think can be filled to keep the show alive in the ratings. Plus for me, the show has started to get a little stale since the Pam/Jim storyline ended with them getting married and the Jim/Dwight rivalry with pranks fizzled out. Those were two big parts of the show I loved that isn’t there anymore. I don't see the show making it to 10 seasons, maybe not even nine.

I agree. I've been a fan for a while. Didn't catch on until season 5, but I own all the seasons and have seen them numerous times to know that the show won't last more than season 9 without Steve. And I agree about the staleness of Jim/Pam. That and the Jim/Dwight conflict were 2 of the biggest reasons why I fell in love with the show, the other being Michael Scott of course. With all 3 of those elements out of the show, it just simply won't last. I just don't want it to "fade away". The show doesn't deserve that type of end. Pick a time to quit and do it without losing more prominent characters. No need to pull a Scrubs and have all these new characters for 1 season.

I was going to make that comparison of losing the main character to that of Scrubs. When Zach Braff left and they recast it, the show was a disaster. The lead on a show can't leave and the show go on like nothing changed. I may be wrong, but I can't think of one instance where that has been the case. It just doesn't happen. Scrubs was a good show that died a painful death when the lead left, and I'm afraid The Office will suffer the same fate.

Scrubs was my favorite show up until season 9. The finale of Season 8 was so good too. And they ruined it by making another season. It was really bad.
