The Office: Season 8

Pretty good series premiere I must say. I don't like Spader's character, but everything else was pleasantly surprising IMO. I may have gave this show the possibility of the axe too soon. No one can replace Michael Scott, but continued strong writing will help keep the show afloat. And I haven't laughed as hard as I did when Dwight sprayed Meredith with the fire extinguisher in a long time.

was a lame episode, but a lot happened...if that makes any sense.

I'm glad it is Andy, but Spader needs to take a back seat like David Wallace and Jo Bennett.

If that episode is any indication, this will definitely be the last season of The Office. I barely laughed; the jokes were mostly misses, and Andy is already coming off as a poor man's Michael Scott. And Pam was so freaking annoying.

Just....bad.

They are trying too hard. Running out of ideas. Dwight was too mature in this episode. Him and Jim barely had any quarrels and Pam was being annoying the whole episode. And I think Spader is contracted for 15 episodes.

I think you hit it, they were trying too hard. It seemed nothing like the final 4 episodes from last season. Hardly anyone seemed like the same character, and they've got Andy doing some hybrid Andy/Michael act that isn't going to cut it.

And I thought they really blew over Andy getting the manager position way too quickly.

Yeah, it's kinda like, "Oh yeah, we gave it to California, but he quit and took CEO position, and he gave the job to Andy." He wasn't even qualified for the position and it all happened too swiftly.

Plus you'd think the rest of the office would have weighed in on what they thought of Andy as manager. All we got was Jim telling us and Dwight's reaction, which really to me wasn't really Dwight-like. Everyone else seemed ho-hum about it; strange considering last year them freaking out when Michael gave him their top clients as goodbye gift to Andy.

And what the heck is Gabe doing there?

Agree with your thoughts. Was disappointed in last night's show. Hope it gets better, because it looks like it wont survive post Michael.

I was wondering why Gabe was there too. I thought Jo ran him off to FL. Unless Robert brought him back to Scranton with him.

I also thought the planking stuff was kind of stupid. I compare it to how hilarious the parkour bit was to open Season 6. Plus planking is already kind of a passing fad, and instead of just doing it for the opening, they kept it going. At least with the parkour they kept it to the opening and Jim referenced how Michael was behind in getting around to liking parkour.

I thought it was a good episode considering Steve Carrell is no longer a part of it.

I'm rewatching it right now. I loved, "WARNING WARNING WARNING".

Also, I think Andy is doing a hybrid of Andy/Michael because that's what he thinks is necessary. My guess is over the next few episodes Andy will mature into his own.

Also, Pam is annoying because she's a hormonal pregnant woman.

A few good moments, but not a great episode.

The funniest thing is probably the writers' pathetic attempt to turn Andy from an irrelevant loser to a believable manager in a couple episodes.
