The Office: Season 8

I think I will miss the Jim and Dwight back and forth the most. I would have be intrested to see what the show would have been like if they had made Dwight the manager as soon as SC left. I think that maybe have helped some of the lack luster seasons.

I don't think DS should have been the manager from the get-go, but I do think they really dropped the ball by not utilizing the chemistry between DS and JH. It's no coincidence to me that the best episodes from Seasons 8 and 9 were the ones where Jim and Dwight interacted the most; i.e. the Florida episodes last season and last week's episode.

Maybe not make Dwight the manager as soon as MS left but maybe have Dwight end up the manager as opposed to Nelly or Andy.

Ended on a high note. Skipping ahead a year was interesting. MS cameo was nice. I would nitpick and say his character would not have missed the panel interview but the way it played out with Jim and Dwight at the wedding was perfect. I really expected it to end with the Scranton branch closing. Having Dwight take it to renewed success was more fitting though.

On a side note I think this is the only episode I've watched during its original air time.

I was waiting for Michael to show up late to the panel, or ask a question. "All my kids grew up, and married each other!"

I didn't notice them covering who the Scranton Strangler was? Everything else I can think of they finished up.

My only nitpick was the inclusion of Ryan and Kelly. The whole abandon the baby thing was seriously not funny and they didn't interact with any other character. They weren't on the panel, so they really had no reason to be there. Neither Dwight or Angela liked either one so I don't see why they'd get a wedding invite.

I personally enjoyed the finale. I can't think of a better way to end the series. And Michael got probably one of the best "that's what she said" in all the series in the finale!

I agree about the baby. Other than that, I really enjoyed the episode. It's kind of sad now that it's actually over, which is ironic because if they had cancelled it between seasons 5 and 8 I wouldn't have cared. They managed to make people care about the show again.

I really enjoyed both hours of the finale. The retrospective was nice to see what all the actors had to say about the show and about their characters. The actual final episode was good. I think it wrapped up the show and it's characters pretty well. I was really happy that MS made an apperance. I think that made the final show complete. I think if they would have left him out the finale would have felt incomplete. As far as Ryan leaving the baby, it's not really funny to abandon a baby but I think that really gave Nelly what she was wanting for the final two seasons. She was wanting a child and that gave her a child so all in all it was a happy ending for the baby and for Nelly.

I was happy with the way the show ended. I will be intrested to see if they decided to do a reunion show somewhere down the line.

Really enjoyed the finale. Was very happy to see MS, but wish he had a bigger role in the finale and would loved to see Holly and their kids. I think Michael only had 2 speaking lines

Of the long term shows that I've followed over the years, this finale ranks up there with MASH.

I think it was perfect that he only had a few lines. It kept the show from being about him and instead being about everyone.

I liked it. It reminded me a lot of That 70s Show finale. But I'm a sucker for finales.

Yeah I get the baby for Nellie thing, but it's not like that's how it works. You can't just say "Oh hey I'll take that baby!" I know, suspend disbelief but that whole portion of the finale was the only bad part IMHO.

Oh yeah, if that's the way it worked there would be a lot more people with babies. I would have to say it wasn't the best part of the show for sure.

Well the other nitpick is acting like Andy was the big star of the documentary. I get they were playing up his meltdown, but the crowd in line was saying his signature "Roo di di doo" which he did pretty much the whole series he was a character. I get the issues with Carell being on the finale and all but it seems like Michael would still have been the star of the show, simply because they had a ton more footage of him and when he was manager.

But having said that his cameo was about perfect; low key yet enough of a nod to the long time fans who wanted him back. I still wish he had gone back to the office to talk with everyone, but they also may have filmed that at a different time. They said he was on set for the last filming so I assume that means the wedding was filmed last.

I also liked the little nods to the past; the stripper, Devon being rehired, Meredith's kid being a male stripper (and it being the same actor all grown up), and Carol selling Jim and Pam's house.

I've got an interesting story about my grandfather and his first wife being given a baby by a coworker whose husband was in prison (it wasnt his baby). They in turn gave the baby to my grandfather's sister who raised it from then on.

But this was back in the late 1930's. That sort of thing was probably more common than we will ever know.

I didn't think they acted like Andy was the star. If anything the panel questions made it out like Jim and Pam were.

I didn't pick up on Carol as the real estate agent. Good eye.

Oh and I did lose it when during the wedding they showed Mose staring at the scarecrow.

And Creed was pretty much awesome last night as usual.

BTW on what grounds was Toby fired? Did Dwight ever say, or was the joke he fired Toby so that he could fire Kevin without any problems?

The way I understood it was Kevin was fired first and Toby second but I could be wrong.

Mose and the scarecrow made me laugh hard. I have on DVR I will be going back and watching this more than once.

One thing I was surprised not to see was Jan. I thought she might make an apperance some how some way in the finale.
