Just seen an article on 247 about Rick Barnes not having any answers for Bowden. He gets paid very well to not have answers🦉
Bowden is the least of Barnes' worries.
Defense being his trademark and its disappearance is far more concerning. If Barnes can't bring it back he's looking at a finish like Vandy had last season.
Willy or Wonty?

He gets paid very well and knows better than to share anything important with the media that might give any an opponent an edge. He's sorry that his evasiveness with the media triggers you.

A coach can only do so much. At some point it’s up to the player to get it right. We’re at that point.
Exactly!! At this point it's almost like the yips in golf. Other than reps, not really an answer to fix those either. Although for Bowden, I think a dunk or easy bunny and a free throw or two would sure help him get out of it.

BTW, good call on the Georgia upset of the Tiger$. Think you and Vekzy are the only ones to get that one.

I have them beating auburn too. Not as sure on that one though.

He is the worst QB to get this many snaps since I started watching UT which goes back to the early 80's. One might say Worley, and I wouldn't disagree. Those two are definitely 1 and 2 on the bad QB list

To me the thing that sets Worley lower is the talent was better, especially OL talent.

Junior Season his first year starting the OL had Ja'wuan James, James Stone, Tiny Richardson, Zach Fulton, Alex Bullard - 2 still in the NFL
Senior Season his last year starting the OL had Marcus Jackson, Jashon Robertson, Coleman Thomas, Mack Crowder, Kyler Kerbyson - which obviously aren't great, but better than what JG got in his first year as the main guy (2018) other than Trey Butch didn't leave much for CJP & company to build from. Calbert is developing though, and he was a Butch recruit as well.

But yeah Worley went 8-9, Dobbs with the same talent went 23-12.

Man Lady Vols are looking pretty good in year 1 with KJH, other than Stanford they have been competitive every game.

Someone said in the post game press conference, Barnes looked tired. I'm starting to think even he didn't expect them to be this bad. And while yeah it's ultimately his responsiblity and if people want to keep repeating how much this is his fault go ahead, sometimes all the crap hits the fan at once and you just have to get through it.

Unlike the Houston, O'Neil, and Peterson years, I actually believe it will get better and it's not some hope and prayer.

Another dig at Barnes’ salary. Original. Despite his salary, he probably doesn’t have an answer for global warming, either.

As Dallas said, at some point, the coach has done all he can do. Barnes can’t make Bowden be confident in himself. He can’t make him be a leader. And he can’t make him hit shots. He can lead him, council him, advise him, and coach him to be better, but getting better is up to him.

Barnes could bring him off the bench. Something like that might help. Just the first few minutes.

I agree. And maybe that is something he tries. If he doesn’t, though, I’m sure it is for good reason, and not because he just stubbornly refuses or it never occurred to him. I actually hope he tries it as it has had a positive effect in the past for some of our guys, Bowden included.

I think Memphis is pretty over-rated. I think Auburn will smoke Georgia though (especially at home).

I definitely don't think Barnes thought the team would be this bad. He had two senior guards who should be able to score 30-40 points combined most nights. That has gone away. Even so, if they hit 2 more shots against Memphis, they win and still only 9-4 with 3 quality wins.

It's going to get better.

Haven’t watched any Georgia this year, but don’t disagree about Memphis. If UGA can beat UK and the Barn this week, they’ll jump to the top of the SEC quick fast. I’d take it in a heartbeat too. If the title can’t be in Knoxville just don’t let it be in Auburn or Lexington.

Or Gainesville..

Currently lost 4 out of the last 5 so optimism might be premature. We'll find out a lot at MZ. Hope it's positive.

Oh, I didn't mean this year. I still think this team can win 9 conference games. But, I meant it will get better next year.
