I’m gonna hurt feelings with this hot take

IMO

A “layup” is only a “layup” when its uncontested.

Inb4 someone gets pedantic and doesn’t understand the context of my statement

would a contested layup be a "bunny" or is that an entirely different shot?

That was an all-time great performance by Johnson. Between his offense, defense and the opponent (don’t care if they are in a down year), no doubt in my mind.
Agree and Springer balled out, too. But, Keon has this will to win and I've noticed it, especially in the last couple of games, it's Jordan or Kobe - like, imo and it's rare

Idk what’s up with Fulk, but it might be time to consider starting JJJ over him in the Dane Bradshaw small big man role.

He was tremendous tonight on defense, rebounding...just the little things
To be fair, he was taken out of today’s game, but I do think we should have JJJ playing the 4 a lot more

He went into the zone. For a period of time it was all Johnson on both sides of the floor. Then that run down block from behind just demoralized them.

Tonight's win probably lost us KJ and JS for next season. They both showed why they're 1st talents and most likely KJ secured a lottery floor at worst. He is so competitive and athletic...a few years to develop/add in an improved shot + improved handles and he's a starting two-way player in the NBA.

Yep. We need to enjoy it while it lasts. And sprinkle is a one-and-done lottery pick or two as the Deacon reloads year-to-year.

Man, tonight feels so much better than Tuesday. I know, probably in the long run that Rebels loss is not the bad for our resume, but it crushed me. I thought UT had turned the corner after Kansas, now, this Kentucky game is the catalyst, I hope. Either way, I have a feeling this team clicks by Tournament time

It was bound to happen sooner or later (the big game), but I'm not sure KJ is that interested in leaving so soon. I would expect that Springer is likely to leave.

Anyone graded 1st round should almost always go with very few exceptions. The contract is 2 year guaranteed and the resources available to you are much better in the NBA than in college.

......and if u are a borderline lottery pick, u almost have to go, almost no matter how much u want to come back. Tonight, probably ended any chance of Keon coming back, imo. Hope I'm wrong

What I love is Keon only took a single 3, he did his work going to the rim and at the free throw line. Kid has all the talent to be a 1st round NBA pick. Selfishly hoping we get him for more than an abbreviated single season, Springer too.

I think Springer's got more to work on in his overall game than Keon. Keon just has to flip the switch and you see why he's projected so high. Great win and I hope the freshmen continue to be the primary scorers on offense moving forward. Great game from James too stepping it up on the glass with Fulkerson sitting so most the game.

If Keon and Jaden keep this up then they will be one-and-done and I’ll be fine with that. It should mean that TN finishes strong. Even if there aren’t championships or an EE or better, they will be fun to watch.

I’d be happy if we could at least keep one next year whether it’s Springer or Johnson.

If there is a repeat or two in the coming games by Springer and Johnson, there is almost no way either will come back.

As I said in another thread, I hope it was Barnes intention to eventually spring the fast pace for the whole game. Hopefully he was just waiting for the freshmen to gain experience and maturity.

JJJ and Vescovi are also showing a much better approach in a fast tempo if last night is a typical game for those two. Hoping that we continue to see the fast tempo the rest of the season.

Anyone else think Fulky needs another year in a strong S&C program to gain some muscle? Is he using the same s&c coach that Schofield and Grant used?

Man...any Vol "fan" downplaying a win in Rupp should be run off. I usually hate the "true fan" stuff but give me a freakin break. There are certain games that a win is big NO MATTER the situation:

1. Beating Alabama in football.
2. Beating Florida in football (mostly because we never do).
3. Beating Kentucky in basketball and especially in Rupp.

Those are the big 3. I'd argue there a few more but your mileage may very, like I think beating Memphis in basketball is always a big win and beating Vandy in baseball....well actually for me beating Vandy in everything is still important, especially winning at Vandy.

I just hope the team plays motivated Wednesday against Florida. We came out flat after beating Kansas against Ole Miss, don't want to see that happen again.

13-4 with 7 games left, 3 are road games and this season has proven nothing is a given in the SEC. No rematch with Alabama means we'd need a ton of help to jump them in the SEC, so at this point the goal should be to finish 2nd and get that seed if they have a SEC tournament.

I would hope the memory of what happened in Gainesville should help us with the being flat part.

EDIT: Forgot we're playing Georgia now; so yeah now we do need to maybe worry about coming out flat.

Florida not happening. Vols playing Georgia Wednesday.
