He’s not going to leave them for their biggest rival lol

Chris Beard left Texas Tech for Texas. I get that logically it probably feels as if he won’t leave for an in state rival because it’s kind of a crappy move, but you’d be surprised with Byington…most wouldn’t but I am confident that Byington would listen if DW hit him up. May not say yes, but it would absolutely not be a case of immediately hanging up the phone.

White left UF for Georgia.

I mean UF is glad I'm sure but still.

Beard is a Texas alum and that’s the only reason he made that move. Forget apples and oranges, this is apples and elephants.

Couldn’t disagree more on this. So much easier to recruit, whether it be transfers or high school recruits, to Tennessee than Vanderbilt. Have a little respect for the Tennessee job. We can’t get many P6 coaches. No doubt about that in today’s day and age where security is everything. However, Tennessee would be far and away better than Vandy. Now, Byington probably won’t be on DW’s short list because he doesn’t feel like a DW hire, at least not to me. However, to suggest he wouldn’t even consider leaving if DW gave him a call is absolute nonsense. Tennessee is an exponentially better job than Vandy. Byington would answer the call and listen. Wouldn’t be cheap after the quick turnaround he’s had at Vandy, but he would be willing to listen. I know that without a shadow of a doubt.

Not every coach automatically leaves the instant they get offered a better job.

Wait, I’ve been away all afternoon, is someone saying the Vandy job is as good as the Tennessee job?

A&M baseball coach left for Texas, Tuberville left Oxford for Auburn. It happens

SGM seems to be suggesting that Byington would never leave Vandy for Tennessee since we are in state rivals. Not saying I would bet the house on him coming here if DW offered Byington the job, but the idea that it’s a non-starter (assuming that is indeed what SGM meant) is ludicrous.

I see. I don’t even think about that stuff right now. Im hoping for a couple more years of this.

Wrong. Texas is also the flagship institution in that state and has more money and resources than they know what to do with. Anyone other than Patrick Mahomes would’ve made that move if offered.

Baker -Mazara throws elbow in back of Bama player. Bruce said he hasn't seen pmay but "my guess is it was retaliatory" and "I'd like the first fouls to be called". Both Pearls make excuses for that punk and it's that lack of discipline that will be their undoing, but the guy should be suspended a game at least by the league, like that dirty Gator was after his hit on Fulky. Relevant to this thread as we may see them next week.

Well, we'll disagree on that. I know that Doncic does complain a bit too much, but he's like a magician with the ball in his hands. I can't compare him to Harden because Harden's game is so predicated on iso play and foul grifting, especially as he aged

My contempt for James is because to me he is responsible for ruining the NBA with his power plays to form super teams and hold franchises hostage to his whims. He got away with it because he was so good, but the player empowerment (which many think is a great thing) just got out of control to the point that contracts mean nothing any more. And James took the whole traveling thing to the ridiculous level that is is now, where 3-4 steps is routine. James to me is everything that is bad about the NBA.
I’ve never lived in a city with an NBA team and am not really a fan of any particular team. So player movement or players influencing front office decisions bothers me not at all. It’s completely irrelevant to my enjoyment of the games.

Luka dribbling the air out of the ball and crying to the refs after every play impacts my enjoyment of the games.

Btw, it feels like a bit of a stretch to blame James for players requesting trades and generally ignoring their contracts given that he’s only ever switched teams during free agency and hasn’t (at least to my knowledge) asked to be traded. I think you’d be better off blaming harden or Durant or butler or even lillard. Just someone who has actually reneged on a contract or asked for a trade. James’s innovation was more just making a spectacle out of his free agency (which I didn’t really love but also just don’t care much about)
