The Official “Regular Posters of the Basketball Forum” Thread

Your post got me curious so I looked it up.

The KP gap between us and Houston was greater than the gap between us and Purdue last year or Michigan State in 2010.

And KP isn’t transitive. So you can’t compare absolute totals to judge our teams.
Yeah that’s the great equalizer. We were better than any other UT team, but the top 4 were so far and beyond this year. That said, there’s no reason we shouldn’t have been able to play with Houston for 40 mins and have a chance to win. We generated plenty of great looks, just seemed we were tight as could be the start the game. Only gonna get worse on that front as we continue to allude the final four.

If this doesn’t put tears in your eyes, idk what to say to you. This is the most special group of players we’ve had in my lifetime and idk if we’ll ever get a group like them again the way college athletics is going. I know they care more than any of us, so hurt they couldn’t get to where they had their goals set.

Him and ZZ saw possibly the best 4 years stretch in vols history. Will always appreciate the culture and toughness they brought

Josiah was sitting behind the bench in the special section reserved for big wigs like the Haslem’s and administrators.

It begs the question why.

I didn’t see any other former players in that section. And there were a lot at the game.

Barnes said earlier this year he may be joining the staff. I wonder if this is confirmation.

Could be another reason why Barnes isn’t retiring.

Having a former player like Josiah could make him stick around. I know he and Josiah were super close.

I so hate this forum after any loss, this is literally the only thread you can come on without getting the butthurt idiocy. "We choked", "I'm embarrassed", "Barnes will never win", "excuses", etc., etc., etc.

They came out flat as a pancake against a very good team that was on top of their game, and it snowballed. It happens. You can say it isn't an excuse, but teams coming out flat right off a highly emotional rivalry win is one of the most common things in sports, even at the professional level. These are kids, for crying out loud.

We didn't have a lot of room for error this season given the roster limitations, and the lack of a legit inside scoring presence really came back to bite us on the ass when the perimeter shots weren't falling. Barnes had nowhere to go and just needed to get to halftime, but unfortunately we got in too deep a hole to recover.

That Kentucky win is how I'll always remember this group. I've been a UT fan for 45 years since coming to school here, and that will always be a Top 10 sports moment, if not higher. Couldn't be more proud of this group, and they have not the slightest thing to apologize for, as they gave us a fantastic four month ride with some electric moments.

Gonna assume he was deep in the sauce and made a really stupid post. Much easier to make excuses for college kids making idiotic posts.

Not defending him but I’m not understanding exactly what he was saying. He made other posts that were rooting the team on.

I find it a bit interesting how much the media seemed to bash Tennessee for losing by 19 to Houston.

I don't really recall seeing as much about Bama losing by 20 to Duke.

I mean we did only score 15 points in the first half which is a record for lowest total by a 2 seed ever. Alabama didn't do that. Seems the "bashing" I've seen was mostly that, and sorry that seems fair to me.

What an absolute loser to tweet this about your former program immediately after they lose a heartbreaker. Would expect nothing less from a Bruce Pearl era player.

And he had about as much to do with the success of the Pearl era teams as I did.

You’d never see Chris Lofton or Wayne Chism pull crap like this and they’re the ones who actually made those teams go.

But that's kind of the point...how cherry picked of a stat is that "lowest first half total by a 2 seed"

No one gives a **** about those stats...
