That one dude that hit like 4 threes toward end made me just hang my head.

I think we were within like 7-9 points and he hits one. I was like, “okay we still have a small chance”

Comes down hits another from outer space and that’s when I gave up. Then he proceeds to hit two more for the fun of it….

Yeah credit to Houston...

We got it close 50-40

Sharp then goes 3 of 3 from deep and they iced it. He went 4-10 for the game, those 3 were huge though.

I mean it was an awful half... but we were playing the best defense in the country.

Clemson as a 5 seed lost in the opening round after scoring 13 in the first half, how quickly that got forgotten...

I remember them getting pretty dragged for that too. But yeah, that's kind of the point of the tournament, it goes fast. Most people don't remember what happens in the first round anyway unless it's a 1 or 2 seed getting upset past the first weekend.

This isn't directed at you really , but you probably notice it more because you're a Vol fan. Also since Duke is a media darling and blue blood, they probably are focusing more on how awesome Duke is and not so much how much Alabama sucked. ALabama also was a FF team last year. How much that factors into it, I don't know but we're one of those big name teams that's never been there so it's going to keep being brought up unitl we do.

You said nobody gives a s*** about cherry picked stats; for the life of me I don't understand why so many give a s*** what the media says about us. Like I said, we're one of the big names that hasn't made a FF and fair or not it's going to be a story.

We can agree to disagree but I think it's kinda fair to point out that a game that was one of the most important in our program history and a game that many of us felt pretty good about and we came out as flat as I've ever seen and certainly historically flat for the moment. Let's be honest, nobody expected us to come out like that.

And he had about as much to do with the success of the Pearl era teams as I did.

You’d never see Chris Lofton or Wayne Chism pull crap like this and they’re the ones who actually made those teams go.

I'm going to ask again, are we even sure what he meant by this? Maybe I'm crazy but he was following the game and was even saying we can make a game of it, and followed the tweet with "Great season fellas".

I'm guessing everyone is assuming he means the 09-10 team is the best ever, but is it possible he actually was saying this Tennessee was the best ever in his opinion?

As they say...just asking questions.

Because even watching the baseball team it gets brought up. If it was just a during our game/post game thing I wouldn't care. It's like all the negative around the Vols just lingers longer in the media...and that's why it's frustrating.

Bama got stomped and by all accounts MOST the media talking heads thought they were better than the Vols. Yet it's like "okay move on" soon as the game is over. We'll see/hear about our game right into next season.

Great point...I think him saying "we" as a former Vol is what threw it off. Had his tweet read

"This is the best team in Tennessee history"

A ton of likes and no backlash likely.

I find it a bit interesting how much the media seemed to bash Tennessee for losing by 19 to Houston.

I don't really recall seeing as much about Bama losing by 20 to Duke.

I think it’s more because everyone recognizes Duke is a class above most of the other teams while Houston isn’t as respected. Everyone thought UT would at least put up a fight and not struggle so much

Yeah, I was worried...thought we might play bad to open was hoping we'd get that 2nd half effort the whole game.

A few times I've seen this team play an incredible game then the very next one get kicked in the mouth and have to try and get it back in 2nd half.

Example, take care of Bama to put us in driver's seat for a 1 seed. Then go lose to Ole Miss (although we had a great 1st half there strangely enough)

Pull off an incredible win over Auburn to make SECT championship game and basically playing for a 1 seed (we thought) and we're down 9 at the half.

Open SEC play and run Arkansas out of the gym...then go get curb stomped in the Swamp the very next game.

I was a little nervous the UK game would take a lot of emotional energy.

This will forever puzzle me. I mean, I haven't watched or listened to any non-game sports media bullschiit in more than 20 years, so I don't see or hear any of this crap, but I'll never understand why anyone would give a rat's ass what any media hack or "expert" says or thinks about us.

Honestly I believe some posters search for **** to complain about from the media and talking heads . They're not happy unless they can find something to bitch about..

What an absolute loser to tweet this about your former program immediately after they lose a heartbreaker. Would expect nothing less from a Bruce Pearl era player.

It’s been a while and he hasn’t done anything much since as far as I can tell. Some guys peak in HS and always talk about it. He peaked in college. Most grow up and stop needing to relive their athletic glory days. Apparently Brian hasn’t yet.

Using the term "athletic" generously when referring to Brian Williams.

Yes, he meant his team. He made multiple other tweets, reply’s and retweets all the way into today about it.

Well then he's an idiot because that wasn't the best team at Tennesse. It wasn't even Pearl's best team. They made the EE yes but they weren't the best team. If we're even just comparing EE teams, they are the 3rd best of the 3.

I mean we did only score 15 points in the first half which is a record for lowest total by a 2 seed ever. Alabama didn't do that. Seems the "bashing" I've seen was mostly that, and sorry that seems fair to me.
So, Bama lost by 20 and we lost by 19, yet it seems fair because of the first half? When did margin of victory become something decided by one half?
