A lot of chatter on D1Baseball this week about the Tenn/OM series. Biggest of the weekend. Man, didn't think I would ever see UT baseball get this much coverage. I love it.

Kendall Rogers picked TN by the way. He said "I feel pretty good about that pick with how they're playing right now." Aaron Fitt said he thinks Ole Miss wins due to it being a home game. He would have picked TN if it were in Knoxville.

Listening to the "Weekend Preview" this morning at work, and Mike Rooney the one person down on Tennessee, said he thinks LNS is a joke of a stadium and our power would be an F8 in most parks.

It's not like our home runs have not been barely clearing the fences lol. These have been monster bombs. I don't get the LNS hate.

Pretty sure it’s the weight of sheer numbers that’s in his head. “Surely it’s due in to the short field lines at LNS.” He’s obviously never seen one of our long dongs.

I made it to the end of the podcast, and Mike Rooney said that Tennessee is the biggest lock for Omaha this year if we're a Super Regional host because no one is beating us at home due to "that joke of a park they play in." LOL.

Lol. If nobody can beat us at home, then LNS is no joke. It’s the most feared stadium in the country.

He acts like other teams that play in LNS also don't have the exact same chance to hit home runs on the road.....
Seriously, both teams play in the same park……its not like we move the fences back when the visiting team bats. Rooney is a good listen but half the time he doesn’t know what he’s talking about, he’d be a good color guy on a TV broadcast.

LOL. I mean, it doesn’t even make any sense on more than one level. First of all, as noted already, most of these bombs are well out of the park. (By the way, 27 of them could be wall-scrapers down the line and we’d still have as many homers as Ole Miss… 😉) But secondly, isn’t the implication that all of these other teams would also have 60 HRs through 20 games if they played at LNS? If so, why would we be unbeatable at home because of our park? Just makes no sense.

Nevertheless…

Don't mention moving fences to Rob Manfred, he would probably like the idea of fences moving throughout the game.

I’m curious how the fields line up with regard to size across the SEC. I’ve been researching and haven’t found anything yet. Found a great one for mlb though!

Baseball America college pod was hyping this series a ton too. They were talking about our depth and how scary it is that Tony V is recruiting great and also developing kids like Lipscomb, Lawson, Ortega, etc. to step up and show out as upperclassmen who have been the program. Some love for Christian Moore’s 7 HR and 10 XBH in 33 at bats also.

The knock from others on LNS is the wind blowing out 75% of there time……..like we all know, both teams play the same field so screw the haters.

A little Trivia to pass the time……..

Prior to 1845, it was legal to "soak" a baserunner. If you peg a baserunner or batter-runner with a thrown ball prior to him reaching base, the runner was out.

It was also legal in the 1970s when we played with cups full of dirt.
