The Official #1 Tennessee @ #3 Georgia Game Thread, 3:30 PM ET, CBS

Maybe it's just because we got outplayed, but it didn't seem like we had that same "nothing to lose" attitude that we've had all year.

To a certain extent I agree, we played pretty tight for 3 quarters. Towards the end of the game we started to play more loose and move the ball. But give credit to Georgia, they proved that they were clearly the best team in the country.

Look at evaluated talent of starters for todays game. TN has a ways to go on talent not to mention quality of depth is better on GA side as well. How long will it be before TN catches up talent wise? At some point, scheme / player development has to close the gap as recruiting will take years to catch up.

This post is sobering. Georgia is and has been a hotspot for talent. I suspect we will always be rated below them in talent but hopefully we can close the gap somewhat with better coaching.

We scored 13 points and we are blaming the defense? My God what a take.
If our defense is better, we limit their offense better which keeps our offense more open up instead of one dimensional. It may be hard to understand, but the defense was a big part of the issue today. The offense was bad as well. It was a team effort. Either we played bad as a team on both sides of the ball today or we will have to come to realization that we just don't have enough talent to compete with the top teams yet.

I know it sounds crazy but GA still has 2 SEC games on the road. At Miss ST and KY. If GA loses those 2 games and TN wins out, then won't TN be in the SEC Champ game ?

I don't believe anyone doesn't support Hooker, but; it was obvious he was not firing all cylinders today and wasn't able shake it off. A change up may have helped and also thrown the Ga. defense off. Sometimes that's all that's needed.
And if the the coach did that, what signal would he have sent? That would have given more fuel to the LOM on this site.

Not necessarily so. We just need to keep putting up as many wins as possible

Being so close to Atlanta which is a hotbed for high school football talent doesn't hurt

The way they played tonight I’d be worried about Missouri and USC Jr….. terrible play all the way around, terrible coaching and worse performance, winning out is not even close to guaranteed

Dude unless our team has PTSD from this game, we're gonna steamroll the rest of our schedule. None of those teams have the roster to beat us straight up. This was a reality lesson , nothing more.

Or just be happy with getting 11-1 and the Sugar or Orange Bowl bid. It’s a huge step up from where the results the program has seen the last 15 or so years have been.

Sure, I’d be happy w Sugar Bowl. But the ultimate prize is the playoff birth to compete for a national title. This team still has a shot and achieving they goal, and I think Heupel will be able to keep the team focused and instill confidence, while reminding them the ultimate goal is still in play.

I would be disappointed if we lose another game but happy with a 11-1 record, regardless of bowl. I would be disappointed, not at our team, if we run the table and not ranked in top four with wins over:
@ Pitt, @ LSU, FL, Bama, KY. Our loss to UGA was ugly as TN was never threatening, however, it was only a 14 point loss on the road with bad weather in the 2nd half.

Yes - some folks just want to make this worse than it was. The defense actually stopped them enough times that had we been able to score we would have caught up.
They were not trying to score though. They were trying to keep the ball away from TN and keep the clock moving once they got 3 scores ahead and knew their D had our O shut down.

Haha best one all night
I can definitely see that happening.

In order to break down that UGA defense, you need a QB that can improvise (Bryce Young)
Bama is going to offer something that we don't yet have when they meet UGA in Atlanta. But...still I'm putting my money on UGA. Their offense is pretty damn efficient

13-0 UGA
13-0 Ohio State
13-0 TCU
11-1 Tennessee

Good lord! Go watch those teams play. None of those teams will even give us pause. All three are horrible.

They had a different game plan than usual and it backfired! They relied on the running game to much. It really sucks but stil love them!!!

Georgia seems to always struggle with Bama. Bama can definitely beat Georgia this year.

This might be the hot take of the century right here. Our offense was bad because our defense was bad?

Replace TCU with Clemson imo.
