The Official #1 Tennessee @ Kentucky Thur-Sat Game Thread (Thur. 7PM EST SEC NETWORK) (Fri. 6:30PM EST SEC NETWORK+) (Sat. 2PM EST SEC NETWORK +)

They are alot better than what is being described in this thread presently.

I could feed you a meal with soup beans and cornbread, fried taters, onions that would make you ask for seconds. My wife and I eat them about once/twice a week and we never get tired of them. Mmmm-mmmm.

Welp, I’m gonna need the recipe then! Give it up!

My grandmother used to make the best cornbread, beans and fried taters, you ever did eat! Those taters and cornbread in the cast iron was off the hook! I think the pure lard that she cooked with was the key.
GBO!!

My dad told me stories of cutting through Grassy Cove after midnight, walking back to the mountain from Crossville. Said he always had a silver bullet in his pistol, 'cause everybody knew that's just what you did through there.

Decades later, he's reading Zane Gray paperbacks, and one of his characters is walking through Grassy Cove--described just the way dad remembered it.

edit: Sorry if my late post disrupted anyone's Stella vibe.

You can do the dry beans you soak overnight or fix in a crock pot/slow cooker, but we do the easy way with just the 2 of us. We open up a can of lucks pinto, great northern, or mixed (which is a combo of the 2), empty into a med saucepan. I then rinse the can out by filling it about half or a little better with water and slosh it around to get all the good stuff left in the can and empty into the pot. Add 2 heaping tablespoons of butter. Give it a good shake or 2 of salt. Turn on about medium and bring to almost a boil then turn it down to simmer. Let it simmer while your cornbread is baking. I chop up a nice onion to add to my bowl when they are ready to eat. Make a puppy pull a freight train.

Fried Taters & Corn Bread recipes at a later date gotta go!

bTW iv'e Definitely never heard of the soup beans in tomato soup before so not sure about that.
