Sucks to lose the series, but the SEC crown is still well within reach and this weekend will be a distant memory when this team reaches Omaha.
Wish I could agree with you but we've got trouble with the curve. You're saying it's easy? You were able to lay off those breaking pitches when you were a hitter in the SEC, were you? Ever hear of giving the other team credit. They won those games with terrific pitching. Sometimes a pitching staff gets hot for two games.
People can say “it’s baseball, it happens” all they want and the lack of timely hitting/missed opportunities is part of that. My issue, and many others here, this weekend, isn’t the lack of production as much as the look of flatness and lack of focus. We made errors on 2 fairly routine plays that led directly to runs, we looked lost at the notion of them bunting, routinely stood with the bat on our shoulders, while simultaneously swinging at complete garbage, continually wrapped around outside balls leading to weakly dribbled pulls to the left side (outside of Ortega’s double) etc. I don’t know their inner thoughts and feelings but their outward appearance so far looks like one of disinterest of being there. This is the same game, but it’s another day, and we’re going on 3 days of the same look.Baseball is humbling. The goal now is not get swept.
We obviously were not seeing the spin coming out of pitchers hand. Let's hope daytime helps with that. You're saying it's easy? Very true. I have zero memory of even playing UK last year. They remember what you do at the end.
With that said, hope Chase has his good stuff today. The pitchers are going to have to dominate to win game 3. The bats have lost their way.
Those two games somewhat remind me of Omaha last year.
