The Official #1 Tennessee vs #19 Auburn Weekend Series Thread (Friday 7PM EST SEC NETWORK) (Saturday 7PM EST SEC NETWORK) (Sunday 1PM EST SEC NET+)

Waiting on all the apologists who claimed CTV lightly tossed the bat towards the logo.…..tick tick tick tick tick tick…….
I wasn’t one of those saying that, but after that video I am. How else do you toss a bat? He didn’t tomahawk the dang thing. He tossed it back.

Not trying to be a jerk, but don’t make an issue outta nothing.

Am I the only one that thinks that what happened last night wasn’t such a big deal and it’s people who don’t follow this team, the media and opposing fans that are trying to make this into something that it’s not?

Are you talking about the loss or BatGate? lol

There is increased scrutiny and spotlight given our team’s #1 ranking. Combine that with polarization and this is what happens.

You're not the only one. People are jealous of our team and looking to bad mouth us at any opportunity. Jealousy is a terrible emotion.

It's not. I have zero problems with bat flips or emotion, especially since this Tennessee team has dished out plenty. If you dish it out, you better be able to take it. And I think the team themselves can. Did the bat get a bit close to our dugout? I guess, but it's not like he turned and fired it into the dugout. And yeah it's the media and social media and fans that are all trying to make this a bit bigger than it is. The good news is stuff like this lasts rougly 15 minutes before everyone moves on.

I also laugh so much at how weird sports are. Hockey and baseball traditionally don't really react that badly to fights, like it's almost expected (especially hockey). But basketball and football the minute there is any whiff of a fight people lose their minds. Football especially you'd think would be prone to fighting and as physical as basketball is now, the same thing.

The Auburn player slung a bat hard towards the UT dugout. It shouldn’t have happened and was a clear mistake on his part. It was wrong to do it with the force and location. Period. If he had flipped it on a different pathway, then fine. There should be no reason why anyone should be talking about Vitello’s response toss, because if the first action had rightfully not taken place, the second action would have been a mute point.

Landed against the dugout or was stopped by dugout netting would be more accurate. Without the protective netting, it absolutely would have ended up in TN‘s dugout and that’s a problem.
What actually happened vs what would have or could have happened.

When she’s been there in the past they have calm down, but obviously not last night.

We unfortunately had some new “fans“ behind us last night which they want everyone to know they are there, but unfortunately they don’t know the game of baseball and were loudly questioning base running situations that the UT coaching staff was making as well as questioning some of our players, yet these “fans“ were wearing Tennessee gear. Hopefully they won’t be back.

The new “fans” that hopped on the bandwagon this year and obviously bought season tickets that are yelling underneath the press box got really got worked up last night. They had no reason to start yelling at a 13 or 14 year old kid. Somebody actually tried to get the police involved after the game was over.
The sad price of success. Clueless bandwagon fans come out of the woodwork.
