The Official #1 Tennessee vs #19 Auburn Weekend Series Thread (Friday 7PM EST SEC NETWORK) (Saturday 7PM EST SEC NETWORK) (Sunday 1PM EST SEC NET+)

I probably would have took it and tore the sticker off……..but thats just me
I’m a little hot headed when I played and when I currently coach. Wins are forgotten by the next day. Losses eat at me for days (some I still haven’t gotten over). CTV is passionate and coaches that way.
Ironically, my friend who played at ARK said he hated CTV, but, when pressed he admitted that he would want him at ARK when their coach retires.
I personally would want to play for a coach like TV.

This game is in no way a must win or any ridiculousness like that, but it would be really nice if we just came out hot and punched them in the mouths and kept punching. Auburn is being really mouthy and high on themselves and while we did end up bombing them Friday night, up until the 7th the game had a similar feel to last nights. I'm going to be a bit disappointed if we come out sluggish for a 3rd straight game. Last night should have lit a fire under us and hopefully it shows early today.

Looking at the bigger picture, I think series like this one comes at a good time before post season play starts. It is amazing that this is just our team’s second rubber match. We’re getting Auburn’s best shot, and I think our guys embrace that aspect of it. They certainly won’t back down and neither will Auburn. I’ve said it before, I’d rather have these types of game experiences now, when we still have a comfortable lead in conference play, than experience it for the first time during postseason play. It helps that we have veterans on the team and every experience helps no matter what happens this afternoon.

The bat flip was bad enough and stupid but can we stop with this “went into the dugout”? It clearly didn’t.
If Tony had hurt an Auburn player from throwing the bat back at them he’d be facing a season long suspension at minimum. The Auburn kid didn’t do anything wrong. He was just jacked up for hitting a game winning homer. I’m sure he also felt disrespected by the fact we intentionally walked the guy before him. Nobody from Wright State got mad when Drew Gilbert fired his bat into orbit after his walk off grand slam.

I think eventually there will be a rule change that defines a boundary where if a bat crosses it, the batter is automatically out.

I honestly have no problem with bat flips. It’s exciting and I love the passion. Baseball today isn’t the stoic “unwritten rules” game of my youth. Just keep it away from opposing team’s dugout, players, and coaches.

If. Didn’t. When CTV has to step outside the dugout to retrieve it, you know it’s outside the dugout.
Not sure what you missed on my post. These aren’t true dugouts. There is protective netting which prevented the bat from going into the dugout.

True dugout. False dugout. It didn’t go into the dugout. Just refuting this claim by some that it landed in the dugout. It clearly didn’t.

Landed against the dugout or was stopped by dugout netting would be more accurate. Without the protective netting, it absolutely would have ended up in TN‘s dugout and that’s a problem.

Hey, @taylorvol were you at the game tonight? If so, at the end, did you see the yelling "fans" under the press box towards your side finally get on someone's last nerve? Among other things, they started yelling at a teenager in the stands, which was probably the last straw.

I saw it. It was embarrassing. Some other guy was yelling “No one likes you, we’re sick of you!” at him while it was going on too.

Guy really showed what he is. I thought maybe he’s just a bandwagon idiot that doesn’t know when to shut up, but he proved he’s there for himself and thinks he’s making some sort of persona. He thinks people actually like him.

I mean, they kept yelling “BOCK BOCK BOCK” during the most tense bottom of the 9th at bats with our own guys up. All because some “war chicken” thing they latched on to. I’m all for letting people do their thing within reason, but it’s time for him to go.

Anyone have an opinion on batflipgate?
Not the wildest thing that I've ever seen thrown in a base ball game.

When my son was 15 or 16 his team was playing for a tournament championship. His team was winning. The other team ran out of pitching and the score escalated. Travel teams typically only have 10-12 players. We only had 9 available players, two were hurt. The opposing parents got really P.O.d. The opposing coach said out load, "if we aren't winning, we're going to delay your trophy presentation". He changed pitchers with every batter. We continued to shell there pitchers, and had fun doing it.

After a few more runs a parent takes a blue PVC 55 gallon garbage can and throws it over the opposing teams dugout and it rolled past the first base line onto the field. That was a first. We had to escort the umpires to there car to make certain the other parents didn't do something dumber than they already had.

I was there and saw some of that. I know in games past those guys have been loud, but wasn’t sure WHY they were busting our own fans’ chops? Interestingly enough, Donde Plowman and her husband sit within 15 feet of those guys.
When she’s been there in the past they have calm down, but obviously not last night.

We unfortunately had some new “fans“ behind us last night which they want everyone to know they are there, but unfortunately they don’t know the game of baseball and were loudly questioning base running situations that the UT coaching staff was making as well as questioning some of our players, yet these “fans“ were wearing Tennessee gear. Hopefully they won’t be back.

The new “fans” that hopped on the bandwagon this year and obviously bought season tickets that are yelling underneath the press box got really got worked up last night. They had no reason to start yelling at a 13 or 14 year old kid. Somebody actually tried to get the police involved after the game was over.

The “look at me” heckling is so annoying. Cheer and support your team but that silly crap is all about bringing attention to yourself. Donde Plowman and I have shared annoyed glances on more than one occasion (not to mention other nearby fans who just want to enjoy the game without all that barking in their ears).
