Would not showing up cost is a higher seeding?Far ahead thinking, but bear with me. Say we go on at our current pace and finish first in the SEC with a 28-2, 27-3 type record. Would it really benefit us to play in the little tournament in Hoover. By that point wouldn't we be almost a guaranteed national seed. So why waste the arms and risk playing in Hoover. It would be nice to be crowned SEC champions, but there is a much bigger and prize out there to latch on to. Talk to me and tell.me what y'all think.
So is the Regional draw similar to basketball where theoretically the best teams get a good draw? Reason I ask is we were the #3 National seed last year and got hosed by having to play a really good Wright State team...maybe they were just criminally under seeded though?
That is the theory behind it, yes. If we were the #1 overall seed we should have the easiest regional. But, as you said, we were #3 overall last year and had one of the hardest regionals in the entire tournament. I’m sure the NCAA will find a way to do something similar again.
The fans seem a bit butthurt.
