The Official #1 Tennessee vs Notre Dame Super Regional Games Thread (Fri 6/10 6PM EST ESPN 2) ( Sat. 6/11 2PM EST ESPN ) (Sun. 6/12 1PM EST ESPN)

Turns about the most obnoxious guy in the office is a Notre Dame fan. Of course, he only brought it up now that they’re in the Super Regional.

Color me shocked.
I'm the most obnoxious guy in my office.
But, I work from home.

But, 63,2% of previous positions, I am the most obnoxious in a real office environment. But I have only had 1 job in Alabama

With this schedule, should we win first two games; our super region will be wrapped up before several teams will be play game #1
I hope so.

Interesting observation. That could come into play with the first games of our would be bracket beginning on Thursday the 16th.

Not sure I'd go that far. Last year's team, which wasn't as good, went to Omaha. When you've had a year this dominating, not even making the CWS would be disappointing.

In this entire century, a number one seeded team has never won the college world series. You are simply getting everyone's best shot. It is like being the favorite at WrestleMania. The others gang up on you be throwing ace after ace after ace.

No team can be expected to overcome those odds.

Notre Dame starters

In order of games started

Bertrand (LH) 2.27 9-2 (16 starts) 103 SO. 19 BB .223 B/avg 17 2b 5 hr 99ip -
Temple (RH) 3.46 4-1 (13 starts)
Findlay (LH) 2.11 5-2 (8 starts)
Tyrell (LH) 3.60 5-1 (5 starts)
Simon (RH) 4.67 2-0 (5 starts)
Mercer (LH) 4.95 2-1 (3 starts)

Bertrand is their workhouse. He started the Friday and Sunday games against Texas Tech. His start Friday was interrupted by rain as he went 1 inning. He went 7.2 in Sun. final giving up only 1 ER on 9 hits and107 pitches.

It will be interesting if ND will start him on Friday night on 4 days rest. I'm guessing, he'll go Saturday and Temple will go Friday.

So, if we stick to the lineup against RH; Luc will bat second and Blake Burke will DH.

Also, with one more week of healing how much playing time will we see with Jared Dickey. Even if 100%; I don't see Jared getting starts against a staff with so many lefties. Dickey may play a huge role in Omaha should we reach.

Hopefully, having that many lefties may help Beck get out of habit of striking out on a breaking ball way outside and in dirt.

Well. Wrestlemania is fake, so it's not really like that. And nobody really "gangs up" on the favorite. Every team left is good and every team will throw its best pitcher to start the Supers and then go from there. It's not Notre Dame or anybody else would do something special because they're playing us. Every team will be giving it their best shot in every game. That said, yes, the reason a No. 1 seed hasn't won it it all this century is because the odds of beating the field are long. You get through the Super and every team will in Omaha will have good hitting and pitching, and so it's simply difficult for any team to go all the way. There is also the pressure that comes with being the No. 1 seed. That is something our guys will have to deal with--just relax and play.

Uh ... you do know those matches are already determined to be followed & carried out behind closed doors at WWE.

Exactly! That is why I say, "if they don't win another game, it has been a wonderful year.: They won the SEC regular season, they won the SEC tournament for first time in 20+ years, they won a high pressure region., and advanced to the Supers_

Anything else is merely gravy...

Last year in Omaha, Virginia had an all-american pitcher. But, they didn't bother to use him against us. Saved him for the second game.

I think this is pretty typical. Each side of the potential Omaha bracket starts on a given day. Texas-ECU has noon, noon start times. Going to be a wet one in Greenville Saturday.

A lot of inferior teams- I'm looking at your Kentucky, went out of their way to not pitch a lefty against Tennessee.
The lefties that have done well against Tennessee have been those stereotypical "crafty" lefties -like Redmond in a way that get our better guys chase bad pitches.

Bertrand qualifies as one of those type of pitchers as he does not have a top-end fastball.

Going into our game against him, the top guys need to be clear on this goals. Contact, contact contact with pitches only in the zone

Not talking about winning the CWS...just talking about making it there. "National championship or bust" is always a pretty silly expectation, especially in a random sport like baseball, no matter how dominant you might have been throughout the year.

I do think it would be disappointing, however, to not even make the final 8 as the #1 national seed, particularly given how dominant Tennessee has been this year.

I look at it this way but still agonize over every inning every game. The goal is to win the Sec every year. Anything else is just gravy. These guys are entertaining and fun to watch play. So many characters with great story lines.

Agree to disagree. There is way more to life than silly baseball.

Not saying you are one of them, but our fans need to relax. We have our catcher so tight he can't sleep. If you inserted a quarter into Cortland's butt on Sunday night, he could have ground it down to a dime for you.

There's no shame in losing to one of the greatest athletic programs in the country in Notre Dame. If we win, great! If we lose, we should still thank the student-athletes for a great year.

I'll let Bill Murray explain it to you:

Applying a CFB mentality to a game that can be, between two good teams on the best days, a crapshoot, is really something.

Baseball = Becoming Zen doesn’t necessarily mean reaching enlightenment or any specific goal. It’s more a journey and practice in living in the moment and experiencing peacefulness in our daily lives. You can practice Zen by focusing on the current task, keeping a positive attitude, and meditating. Do one thing at a time, do it deliberately and completely.

Who knows what is good or bad....

Nice read from D1. . .last year's read.

"The drought of top national seeds winning in Omaha stands at 21 years after Arkansas failed to make the CWS field in 2021. The Razorbacks are the eighth No. 1 national seed not to advance to the College World Series. Only two have reached the final series once getting there. "

Here's how often each seed makes the Men's College World Series | NCAA.com
