The Official #1 Tennessee vs Notre Dame Super Regional Games Thread (Fri 6/10 6PM EST ESPN 2) ( Sat. 6/11 2PM EST ESPN ) (Sun. 6/12 1PM EST ESPN)

I’m actually nervous about our bats today. We’ve looked at more 1st strikes right down the pike then I thought was humanly possible. Add Bertrand’s stuff in there and this is not a good recipe.
I thought they actually needed to be more patient at the plate. Those pitchers were all over the place last night and kept swinging at the first pitch which led to a groundouts, foul outs, pop ups.

Which is why the ump needed to have a conversation with Tony to let him know if he didn’t get a handle on his player then he’s gone. I haven’t been able to find if an umpire talked to Tony at all. If they didn’t then that was mismanagement on the umpire’s part.
Drew is responsible for his own actions. That message will really be clear to him at 2:06 PM today.

I’ll say this much, I don’t feel good about today at all with how we’ve been playing…..BUT Notre Dame better deliver the knockout punch today and end it, or we’re taking the series tomorrow with Gilbert back. If Notre Dame let’s us get up off the mat, we’ll win. I’m just nervous about our pitching.

After having a night to reflect on game 1, I really get the feeling that TV is going to have these guys dialed in and (I know it sounds contradictory) loosened up.
Maybe with a dose of pissed off thrown in. We get all of those, the boys are going to put it to Notre Dame.

Bash me if you want, But I am beginning to think that SEC Tournaments are a detriment to Post Season Play....

Baseball SEC Tourney wears on you Physically and Mentality
It Provides more information to opponents scouting.

Look at the Winners of the Tournament in Basketball and Baseball and how they have fared in the Past. In Contrast, look at those that had early exits and how they fared in the tournament. Miss State and Arkansas last year.

The same can for the most part can be said about Basketball

An early exit in either tournament gives a team a much needed break and Practice time.

Exits this year in Tournament -- Auburn, Texas A&M, Arkansas, Miss, LSU vs
Florida, Tennessee

Vanderbilt and Georgia. Really had no Chance because they were in a Slump at the end of the season.

10 days of extra Rest for Some of these teams and it shows in Post Season.
It is what it is but it has an Impact Mentality and Physically.

I did not dig into the Basketball Season but appears to be the same.

Once LSU, Arkansas, Texas A&M hit the losers bracket they were gone the next game.

Football is a completely different Beast.

Yes, but I’m skeptical of that account (though I can’t know for sure, admittedly). Drew would not have acted shocked if he had said that. Also, there wasn’t much time for an exchange where the ump told him to calm down. It looked like Drew just kind of kept muttering to himself as he stepped further out of the box.

Anything he said after the first exchange was with his back to the ump. Many officials/umps have rabbit ears. They revel in an exchange because they get noticed.

Tidwell chocked yesterday and we started off way too tight and timid. Lets hope Dollander doesn't do the same. Some guys are just more clutch than others. Tidwell looked shook from the first inning on.

A male’s brain doesn’t fully develop until they are 25. He should have talked to Tony.

I believe it’s actually a person’s brain doesn’t fully develop until mid-20’s. But you are correct. It’s the frontal lobe which affects impulse.

I hate science, but my profession and kind of work got me in to understanding this. This topic could go down a rabbit hole, but this scientific evidence could be used in a number of things in our society.

I’m more concerned about the pitching than anything. We really need a good outing from Dollander today.

Yeah, as I mentioned earlier, it feels crazy to be even thinking it after how incredibly we pitched the entire season up to the tournament, but I’m scared of our starting pitching just a bit. We’ve hit a roadblock. It looks like a completely different staff.

There’s a lot of film on Tom Brady, but he still throws TDs. No offense to either of those other guys, but we have the SEC pitcher of the year and potential top-5 draft pick in line to start tomorrow. He will start tomorrow. It’s not the time to get cute.
You start the SEC Pitcher of the Year....

ND scouted is well, but we left a lot of opportunities out there on the field. Also didn’t pitch well at all. Too many fast balls down the middle when they were expecting fast balls down the middle. Honestly looked off most of the night. Got to bounce back today and keep our heads straight. Tough team but we’ve got plenty of talent. And we’re at home. SEC tourney is a lame excuse.

Ok. So I finished putting pine straw in the flower beds - showered, shaved and going to get my hair cut.

New day - new start. Vols Must re-focus and take care of business today.

Oh and I spun around in circles counter-clockwise 16 times - said the alphabet backwards & said a Hail Mary - just for good measure.

Go Vols.

I am not using it as an excuse....10 days of rest before the tournament is a vacation.
Miss St saids hello....
