The Official #1 Tennessee vs Notre Dame Super Regional Games Thread (Fri 6/10 6PM EST ESPN 2) ( Sat. 6/11 2PM EST ESPN ) (Sun. 6/12 1PM EST ESPN)

No, they need to have a direct conversation with the head coach instead of a college kid that is running high on emotions. If they didn’t then that makes it even worse that they wouldn’t go over to say something to Tony.
Dude, give it a freaking rest. You're beating a dead horse over and over. Drew ran his mouth, was warned, and did it again and got tossed. That's 100% on Drew. He's old enough to take responsibility for his own actions. Arguing ball and strike calls from the CF spot was strike 1.Ignoring a direct warning was strike 2. F bombing the umpire at the plate was Strike 3. You can only give someone so many chances.

Bash me if you want, But I am beginning to think that SEC Tournaments are a detriment to Post Season Play....

Baseball SEC Tourney wears on you Physically and Mentality
It Provides more information to opponents scouting.

Look at the Winners of the Tournament in Basketball and Baseball and how they have fared in the Past. In Contrast, look at those that had early exits and how they fared in the tournament. Miss State and Arkansas last year.

The same can for the most part can be said about Basketball

An early exit in either tournament gives a team a much needed break and Practice time.

Exits this year in Tournament -- Auburn, Texas A&M, Arkansas, Miss, LSU vs
Florida, Tennessee

Vanderbilt and Georgia. Really had no Chance because they were in a Slump at the end of the season.

10 days of extra Rest for Some of these teams and it shows in Post Season.
It is what it is but it has an Impact Mentality and Physically.

I did not dig into the Basketball Season but appears to be the same.

Once LSU, Arkansas, Texas A&M hit the losers bracket they were gone the next game.

Football is a completely different Beast.

My attitude about conference tournaments in basketball and baseball are that if you have to play them, then play to win them, and as a fan it's a nice thing to watch. But the reality is I think they are pretty much a waste of time and do no good for most teams.

This baseball team gained nothing from it. We already had the #1 seed wrapped up. In basketball it's great we won the SECT finally but in reality it did nothing for us. It didn't bump us up to a #2 seed.

I think conference tournaments are even dumber for 1 bid conferences.

Yes, we saw ND’s best offense yesterday. After winning the Statesboro Regional, Coach Jarrett said that ND needed to have more offense in order to play our Vols. And that’s what happened last night. I’ve learned not to make any assumptions about what a team did in its season and how that may translate to postseason. In the postseason, anything can happen. ND is an old, well coached, detail oriented team and they pounced on our pitching mistakes and defensive errors. They gave us their best punch, and while we did our best to counterpunch, we ran out of time in the end.

I suspect that we’ll see their best again today. They will try to do Dolly what Campbell did to him last weekend.I think Campbell gave them the blueprint. However, I’ve a feeling that a Dolly will bounce back today. In the meantime, our lineup will have the figure out how to get to Bertrand and get to him early. Itll be tough since he’s great, but our guys have the ability to do so. They must have great plate discipline and competitive ABs. Take advantage of any ND mistakes. In essence, play better baseball than last night. Go all out and compete.
Campbell is a much better offensive team than ND in every way. Just because they gave the blueprint doesn't mean ND can execute it.

It’s a positive sign that Tennessee is on the way to the top. We were easily in the top 5 most hated teams during the 90s.
Reading comments like "Peyton must be so embarrassed by them". If he was embarrassed, then he wouldn't bring his kids to the game.

I hear you. It’s a meat grinder to Omaha. It’s what makes winning it all so special. It’s a long shot for any team so I’m just going to try to enjoy the ride.

Making it requires extraordinary talent and some breaks to go your way. Let’s hope they break out way these next two games. Guys have their hands full and will have to play great baseball. But the door isn’t closed yet.

They win the next 2....It is what it is....Right now it is all Mental.
Did I want Tennessee to waltz threw the SEC Tournament, The Regionals, the Supers and the CWS without a loss, Absolutely!
Did I think it would happen Realistically No!
Why? Because this is Baseball and you don't win them all. You just the ones that
count.

These next Two are the ones that count.

All tournaments come down to seeding and officiating. I would be in favor of an electronic Strike Zone....

A great pitching performance today from Dollander and solid field play is what this team needs. Eventually, the last game or even middle of the game heroics to overcome less than stellar SP . . . Won’t happen. Dollander is very capable of rising to the occasion . . . And I think he will.

Less than three hours before beloved Vols take the diamond. Not sure if we are visiting or home team?

I missed the first few innings las night due to work, so I couldn’t wear my Kirby jersey.

We are undefeated when I wear it, starting with the last series of regular season.

Time for the crowd to BE LOUD @ LNS and our VOLS to force game three! Let’s go!!!

GO VOLS!!!!’

In a tough spot today Norte Dame best starter throwing so we need our pitcher to match him. We'll be the visiting team today and the home team is we can get it to Sunday.

Just one dudes opinion, but…vs lefty today..

Dickey LF
Stephenson CF
Ortega 2B
Lipscomb 3B
Beck RF
Lipcius 1B
Moore DH
Russell C
Lawson SS

Thoughts?

I didn’t play D-1 but players are already focused and in-tune with the game, but whenever you know an umpire is not doing their job and there is some animosity there afterwards, it just gets your adrenaline going even more so. You feel juiced up from that point on.
I understand from experience how that can be channeled in football, and on defense or rebounding in basketball.

But how does adrenaline improve your play in baseball?

Tournaments are all about the $$$$....
I think some teams duck out early to get rest
Texas A&M, LSU and two others cancelled Mid Week games at the end of their season to not harm their RPI...
Where is the NCAA Competition in that Aspect.
I understand why they did it but Really...

I’m actually nervous about our bats today. We’ve looked at more 1st strikes right down the pike then I thought was humanly possible. Add Bertrand’s stuff in there and this is not a good recipe.
Good. I'd rather them take a pitch and gauge the speed than to keep swinging at junk first pitches like they have been. Get the starters pitch count up and get to the pen. We swing at every first pitch slider today then their starter will have a complete game 85 pitch outing. Bertrand has all the pressure on him today. Every pitcher is human, Texas pitched their ace Hansen yesterday and he got clobbered. Blade left pitches up. We can't bite on out of the zone sliders and punish mistakes left over the plate.

Yeah, as I mentioned earlier, it feels crazy to be even thinking it after how incredibly we pitched the entire season up to the tournament, but I’m scared of our starting pitching just a bit. We’ve hit a roadblock. It looks like a completely different staff.
I think it's the fact that opposing teams now have a full year of tape on our staff. They know tendencies, watch how Evan sets up. All the little things. Jarrett had his guys dialed in and ready for us yesterday. Dollander may need to pitch in reverse today to shake their scouting report.

He’s good, we were just debating on umps and their roles. I was pushing the opposite side of the arguement so he just responded. Need all hands on deck for this game!! Two hours and 5 minutes!!! LFG!!
