The Official #1 Tennessee vs Notre Dame Super Regional Games Thread (Fri 6/10 6PM EST ESPN 2) ( Sat. 6/11 2PM EST ESPN ) (Sun. 6/12 1PM EST ESPN)

Anyways, Im done talking about it. Last night is in the past lets look ahead and get our minds right for today.

On a side note: Is Peyton literally anywhere else besides in the state of Tennessee today?

I hope he's safely gone back to his house (mansion) & to the state he lives where ever that is & watches the game on his Jumbo-tron of a TV set I'm sure he has. GBO !!!

Part of last night was also just bad luck and missed opportunity. They had guys on base and converted big hits when they were given the right pitches (which was a lot of them). When we had guys on base we didn’t quite convert and when we did there was nobody on base to run in.

Pretty sure I was walking out of the stadium behind Jimmy Haslam, can blame it on him as well.

I believe it’s actually a person’s brain doesn’t fully develop until mid-20’s. But you are correct. It’s the frontal lobe which affects impulse.

I hate science, but my profession and kind of work got me in to understanding this. This topic could go down a rabbit hole, but this scientific evidence could be used in a number of things in our society.
Yes, early 20s for females and mid 20s for males. That’s why women have mind powers over us 🤣

We all agree that his commentary was ill-advised. The umpire is much older and should have a cooler head and be less emotional in that moment.
He just wanted him to know who the boss is. Some umps are total jerks. But with all that went wrong if we play error free we may have still won the game. Hope to have more focus today and take it to the stinking Irish . GBO !!!

The umpire should be responsible for calling the game correctly. So he should be suspended too.

I thought he called a bad game as well but a couple of their pitchers were throwing curve balls that broke down. Those are hard to call and lead to these kind of problems a lot of times. Opposing coaches know UT has a hard time with breaking balls down. I am guessing we will get another dose of them today. I doubt it will work a second time around. This will harden the team for Omaha.

And about the ump thing I totally agree throwing Gilbert out in this big of a game was too far. Gilbert went too far but he’s a kid, you’re an adult and one in a position of authority and you can’t write your own history. Gilbert was absolutely in the wrong. He even deserved it. But you gotta have the awareness to know the implications of what you’re doing and while it goes both ways I don’t understand why the players are held to a higher standard than the umps when it comes to words leading to actions and how in this big of a game you gonna let that stuff get to you. If anything it makes everything worse not better. You’re not calming people down and controlling the game but just giving people fuel to take and be pissed off about.

As for the calls themself, I don’t care if Gilbert is 5’4” that ball was in the dirt and even if he called it that way consistently there’s no way those could be considered strikes. Really seemed like some inside cookin on the refs parts. We’re a better team that threw more strikes and we paid for it. Doesn’t seem fair to me.

I am not using it as an excuse....10 days of rest before the tournament is a vacation.
Miss St saids hello....

I hear you. It’s a meat grinder to Omaha. It’s what makes winning it all so special. It’s a long shot for any team so I’m just going to try to enjoy the ride.

Making it requires extraordinary talent and some breaks to go your way. Let’s hope they break out way these next two games. Guys have their hands full and will have to play great baseball. But the door isn’t closed yet.

Not sure if it has been discussed, but did it appear that ND knew Blade's pitches? When they hit the first HR, watch their reaction in the dugout. The players appeared to have found something that would signal if he was throwing a curve ball. I was discussing this with my son and he noticed it too.
Yes, that's called a scouting report. They did their homework and Blade didn't adjust.

I think I heard a reporter say 1-16 with runners on base.

I wondered exactly the same. Looked like they knew his next pitch most of the time. Could have been a tell or perhaps they just spent a long time studying him before the game.

I still believe this is the best team in college baseball history. Love that line “Story’s still the same, 2 wins to Omaha.” If any team should be able to do that in 2 games it’s this one. Hope today is the start of another 12 game win streak.
I think we would only have to win 8 more games 😁
