The Official #1 Tennessee vs Notre Dame Super Regional Games Thread (Fri 6/10 6PM EST ESPN 2) ( Sat. 6/11 2PM EST ESPN ) (Sun. 6/12 1PM EST ESPN)

I think the Regionals did us a wealth of Good playing Georgia Tech, Campbell, and Alabama St.

All three threw their best shot at us Pitching

The fact we played from behind in two games helped

Pitchers have at every level Majors included 1 out of 4 bad starts

The relief Pitching the Bull Pen was superior to what I have seen at this level

Errors hopefully got the kinks out of player's system.

Not trailing for all of the Season was good for team but when we did we found out how to win...This is a confidence builder.

We know what to expect from opposing pitchers and how the mix will come into play...Stopping some of the over thinking.

Tournament UMPs are not Calling the same as Regular Season UMPs and have proven to be at times inconsistent. What's more, they have tighten the strike zone in some cases. I will have to say it has been a poor showing. At first I thought it was the difference in Taylor and Russell's ability but the GA Tech game proved me wrong. They were just inconsistent and the Strike Zone seemed to change back and forth as the game progress. This has been the biggest Disappointment.

Our Regional and the Super will give a great cross section of teams we can expect to see in Omaha.

What I have learned, We are Still A CONSISTANT, DEEP, CONFIDANT, and COCKY Team that knows how to Win.

This is exactly what I have been saying. It’s better to face good competition (pitching, hitting, fielding, etc) and find a way to advance rather than facing a bunch of fluff ups that you walk all over. It prepares you more and keeps you a little more locked in at times. We should be ready, we know we can kick your tail out of the gate and we know we can fight and crawl our way back into a game if need be. The key to winning Omaha (IMO) is you have to have good pitching BUT, the teams that usually win have had some great performances from unexpected people. We know what our top guys got but there will come a time when we’re gonna have to have someone step up in a huge way in a pressure packed atmosphere. We have the mindset and mentality as a team to do that. Guys like McLaughlin, Sechrist, Booker, and possibly Charlie Taylor again will eventually be placed into the game when we need a timely hit or a couple outs or two. We know Burke and Moore can step up, we’ve seen that. Good performances from these players are normally what pushes teams over the hump to hoisting the trophy.

Way back where? Messing with you. This is one of my favorite bands.

Did you know that at one time in the 50's (way back when) Sam Phillips had under contract at Sun Studios in Memphis 1) Elvis Presley, 2) Johnny Cash, 3) Jerry Lee Lewis, 4) Roy Orbison, 5) Charlie Rich, and 6) Carl Perkins? All at the same time. That's the same Phillips the Truckers are talking about in the song. (Tell me the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame doesn't belong in Memphis?)

Here's a back at ya. My favorite song by that band. A little bit about way back when.

Memphis have idiots living in town. Memphis didn't get out & cast enough votes for The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame place to be built. Cleveland, Ohio wanted it more than Memphis. I remember the day all of this happened. I was listening to all of this on a Memphis radio station about it. People all over America (except those in Memphis) were shaking their heads in disbelief that this would end up in Cleveland. I'm not ratting or talking bad on Memphis .... it's the place of my birth.

What surprises me about this list is Arkansas. Razorback fans act like they have been the most consistently dominant team for the last several years and they are constantly reminding Tennessee fans that they didn’t know anything about baseball until this year and that we are a one hit wonder.

So how come Tennessee has more wins since the 2020’s started?

Winningest college baseball teams since 2020:

1. Tennessee: 121-27 (81.76%)
2. Notre Dame: 83-29 (74.11%)
3. Arkansas: 101-36 (73.72%)
4. Texas: 109-39 (73.65%)
5. UC Santa Barbra: 98-36 (73.13%)

vanderbilt: 101-46 (68.71%)

The Hall of Fame is not in Memphis thanks to Sydney Shlenker.

Drive-by Truckers are really good.

Notre Dame's Eck Stadium Dimensions

Left field line – 330 ft (101 m)
Left center – 380 ft (116 m)
Center field – 400 ft (122 m)
Right center – 380 ft (116 m)
Right field line – 330 ft (101 m)

LNS dimensions:

Left Field: 320 ft (98 m)
Left-Center Field: 360 ft (110 m)
Center Field: 390 ft (120 m)
Right-Center Field: 350 ft (110 m)
Right Field: 320 ft (98 m)

Don't be fooled by their offense and home run numbers. They play in a much bigger ballpark (20 and 30' difference in the power alleys), and in colder weather. Don't be surprised to see them hit a numerous home runs in our little ball park with the wind blowing out to left field.

I didn’t realize that the weather and the time of day you played had such a big impact on how far balls traveled until Hoover.

Yep. Not only that, but teams are often built to suit their stadium. There's no need to recruit power hitters to ND, because thier power will be neutralized on the warning tracks in that big ballpark in cold weather. So they recruit speed to cover the larger outfields, and get-on-base kinda guys and doubles hitters to drive in runs. On the other hand, a warmer weather place with smaller dimensions will build a club like ours. One concern I have is that our offense is not built for Omaha, but our pitching should shine in that big ballpark.

Pitching greater than hitting.....Teams come into our stadium thinking of feasting.....Not sure how many home runs hit in regional with 3 top 10 HR teams that had an average showing. In 3 games we hit 10 or 9? HRs work both ways.....The Georgia Tech game proves that hitting is what matters.....Omaha is not a small park....I would rather accumulate 16 hits per game with the occasional HR.....We had to get to the opponents Bull pen in games of late and that works...... The Importance of depth....

We have a season of playing in LNS with an ERA of 2.35 or less. Why, Pitching....

Of all 6 Games Played in our Regional, 4 teams Combined for a total of only 22 Home Runs..... we hit 9 of those.

I'm not worried about our offense translating to Omaha. I feel like that is just a myth. We hit the ball well in Hoover, very well, and that park is similar to Omaha in many ways.

We will not get SEC umpires this weekend and the same we are hated by many fans of other schools we may be hated by some umpires. Just hope we get the ones Friday and Saturday especially behind home plate that hate ND more than UT.

ACC crew? Or completely different conference so as to be unbiased? (Yea right, sure)

Sure know a lot about ND for a Vol fan. Just saying.

I was just thinking of the most efficient use of arms with as little use as possible. Sewell and Kirby are long relief capable and can pitch 3+ innings. If the starters can give us 6 innings then we wouldn’t even have to use Walsh.
“If”? How many times have starters lasted past fifth inning? And that isn’t against mostly top baseball talent. I believe CTV understands the importance of relievers and pinch hitters. I don’t think they get enough credit. Go Vols! I appreciate your opinion.
