This is exactly what I have been saying. It’s better to face good competition (pitching, hitting, fielding, etc) and find a way to advance rather than facing a bunch of fluff ups that you walk all over. It prepares you more and keeps you a little more locked in at times. We should be ready, we know we can kick your tail out of the gate and we know we can fight and crawl our way back into a game if need be. The key to winning Omaha (IMO) is you have to have good pitching BUT, the teams that usually win have had some great performances from unexpected people. We know what our top guys got but there will come a time when we’re gonna have to have someone step up in a huge way in a pressure packed atmosphere. We have the mindset and mentality as a team to do that. Guys like McLaughlin, Sechrist, Booker, and possibly Charlie Taylor again will eventually be placed into the game when we need a timely hit or a couple outs or two. We know Burke and Moore can step up, we’ve seen that. Good performances from these players are normally what pushes teams over the hump to hoisting the trophy.I think the Regionals did us a wealth of Good playing Georgia Tech, Campbell, and Alabama St.
All three threw their best shot at us Pitching
The fact we played from behind in two games helped
Pitchers have at every level Majors included 1 out of 4 bad starts
The relief Pitching the Bull Pen was superior to what I have seen at this level
Errors hopefully got the kinks out of player's system.
Not trailing for all of the Season was good for team but when we did we found out how to win...This is a confidence builder.
We know what to expect from opposing pitchers and how the mix will come into play...Stopping some of the over thinking.
Tournament UMPs are not Calling the same as Regular Season UMPs and have proven to be at times inconsistent. What's more, they have tighten the strike zone in some cases. I will have to say it has been a poor showing. At first I thought it was the difference in Taylor and Russell's ability but the GA Tech game proved me wrong. They were just inconsistent and the Strike Zone seemed to change back and forth as the game progress. This has been the biggest Disappointment.
Our Regional and the Super will give a great cross section of teams we can expect to see in Omaha.
What I have learned, We are Still A CONSISTANT, DEEP, CONFIDANT, and COCKY Team that knows how to Win.
Way back where? Messing with you. This is one of my favorite bands.
Did you know that at one time in the 50's (way back when) Sam Phillips had under contract at Sun Studios in Memphis 1) Elvis Presley, 2) Johnny Cash, 3) Jerry Lee Lewis, 4) Roy Orbison, 5) Charlie Rich, and 6) Carl Perkins? All at the same time. That's the same Phillips the Truckers are talking about in the song. (Tell me the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame doesn't belong in Memphis?)
Here's a back at ya. My favorite song by that band. A little bit about way back when.

I didn’t realize that the weather and the time of day you played had such a big impact on how far balls traveled until Hoover.Notre Dame's Eck Stadium Dimensions
Left field line – 330 ft (101 m)
Left center – 380 ft (116 m)
Center field – 400 ft (122 m)
Right center – 380 ft (116 m)
Right field line – 330 ft (101 m)
LNS dimensions:
Left Field: 320 ft (98 m)
Left-Center Field: 360 ft (110 m)
Center Field: 390 ft (120 m)
Right-Center Field: 350 ft (110 m)
Right Field: 320 ft (98 m)
Don't be fooled by their offense and home run numbers. They play in a much bigger ballpark (20 and 30' difference in the power alleys), and in colder weather. Don't be surprised to see them hit a numerous home runs in our little ball park with the wind blowing out to left field.

Yep. Not only that, but teams are often built to suit their stadium. There's no need to recruit power hitters to ND, because thier power will be neutralized on the warning tracks in that big ballpark in cold weather. So they recruit speed to cover the larger outfields, and get-on-base kinda guys and doubles hitters to drive in runs. On the other hand, a warmer weather place with smaller dimensions will build a club like ours. One concern I have is that our offense is not built for Omaha, but our pitching should shine in that big ballpark.
We will not get SEC umpires this weekend and the same we are hated by many fans of other schools we may be hated by some umpires. Just hope we get the ones Friday and Saturday especially behind home plate that hate ND more than UT.

“If”? How many times have starters lasted past fifth inning? And that isn’t against mostly top baseball talent. I believe CTV understands the importance of relievers and pinch hitters. I don’t think they get enough credit. Go Vols! I appreciate your opinion.I was just thinking of the most efficient use of arms with as little use as possible. Sewell and Kirby are long relief capable and can pitch 3+ innings. If the starters can give us 6 innings then we wouldn’t even have to use Walsh.
