1- He drove and was called for two charges.Watched the game late with an Arky fan. With good officiating, we win this game. Arky fan said they should have won by 30 (which is hilarious).
I haven’t seen such bad charging calls in a LONG time. Changed the entire dynamic of the game.
Couple of observations:
1: KC has to drive more and attack the rim. Same with JJJ.
2: We should have slowed the game down and fed the post. Get them in foul trouble.
3: Aidoo needs to start over Uros
between halves not the last 8 minutes of the game. We passed up too many threes in the game. There was no confidence by individual players. You don't wait until 3 players get in foul trouble to adjust.... I think this looked more like the Texas and Texas Tech games to be honest of which we did not win either. Most of these adjustments were in pregame planning. It's not like he had not seen this before. Trust me will will see this in the tournament. Glad you asked......And how exactly should he “adjust” with the top 3 scorers in early foul trouble and everybody layups and wide open 3’s? And the refs giving Arkansas (and I’ll try to be nice) plenty of favorable treatment. Please enlighten us.
Kentucky must be an afterthought as far as big guards lol im hoping for an evenly called game during tournament time that doesn’t hamstring the offense into going coldWe’re not good when we play long athletic guards. This conference has some of the best. Arkansas made us look stupid. No rhythm. No flow. The Big 12 and 10 have big guards. We looked bad against Texas and Texas Tech too. Whatever draw we get, let’s hope for mortal size guards and open space.
#3 is exactly what I said. Not sure why Barnes has a guy(PLAV) That is not threat from beyond 12 feet even getting the ball in offense near elbow or 3 point line. It actually gives the defense a huge advantage. Almost like 5 on 4. Uros doesn't even look to drive or score. Why have him out there. Don't understand why hardly anyone on our team to day received a pass, squared up into triple threat position, and looked to go to the hole. Instead, we received pass, and either looked to pass or looked east and west. Rarely squared up to the whole. Don't know if thats on the coach or if our guys were gutless in that atmosphere or both. Also, the effort on virtually every possession against UK was fabulous. I thought guys were just going through the motions today. Don't understand why guys can't give it their all on every possession. I love Zieglar, Aidoo, and Vescovi( Even though it wasn't his best day). Aidoo should definitely play more than Uros. Not even close. Uros has a real hard time covering anyone when he has to go out near free throw line to pick someone up. Love Barnes. But once again, Musselman was the much better coach today.1- He drove and was called for two charges.
2- Besides Aidoo, our 4/5 scored nothing.
3- Plav is so bad they actually left him unguarded at the elbow for ten minutes. No threat. Fulkerson needs to be healthy and draw fouls.
Maybe you should be clean up that mess you made thinking about mussleman#3 is exactly what I said. One wonders why our fans can’t except the idea that players not hitting wide open shots and getting whistled unfairly on offense doesn’t play into the context of their arguments when addressing Rick Barnes offense….but yeah other then that terrible takeOffensive strategy and execution are not strengths of Barnes' coaching. Probably why his teams have never had any great success in the NCAA tournament.
The Vols FG percentage was 27% in the 1st half and 27% in the 2nd half. One wonders if there was any effective offensive execution anytime in the game.
He's won a lot of games with his style of play but there appears to be a limit on what his teams can achieve offensively in tournament play.
