The Official #17 Tennessee vs. #25 Missouri Game Thread, 3:30 PM ET, ESPN

I don’t like calling out individual players, however, I will say, there’s only one senior that still has eligibility that I would want to return and that is SV. I don’t understand how our seniors are so inconsistent. They should be the steady hand for the underclass men, yet I feel they are the cause for most of our offensive struggles.

Any idea why Uros never play more than 10 minutes anymore. He's not great but sometimes looks like this team needs a bad guy and the energy

I hope Julian comes back. Carr, Dillone, Jefferson, mashack all have the build and athleticism to attack the rim which we don't do at all right now.

Having Awaka, Uros, Aidoo, and JJJ just offer 3 points and 5 rebounds = ball game

But Mizzou pressed the whole game and generated more TOs which allowed them to score 5 more FG. That was the difference, we both shot 10-26 from 3 and we hit 2 more FTs, they just took advantage of easy transition points when they turned us over.

It IS how it works. We have been underseeded many times in the past despite the “clear metrics”. Many other teams too that aren’t named Duke, Kentucky or Kansas.

It’s relative to our SOS and what other teams have done. I just don’t see it, and neither do the “experts.” We will find out soon enough.

Tough going without Ziegler…haven’t watched many games this year but we we’re hurting without a good point guard.

Give Missouri credit. 10-2 run to close it out and Brown was outstanding. They deserved to win. Say what you like. We probably win that game with Zakai. The whole team just plays better when he’s out there. But it is what it is. We got a sniff of it yesterday against Ole Miss. They just weren’t good enough to take advantage. Missouri certainly was. We don’t have another real point guard on the roster to take his place and it cost us today. That and the big men and JJJ stinking up the joint. Hmmm, having said all that I’m surprised we were in it till the last minute. On to the NCAA’s.

Exciting game, but Mizzou has been a bit better in both very evenly matched games. Our squad needs a rest for the Big Tournament. Our guys play hard, but they definitely struggle in the paint. Mizzouri is a tough out for us for whatever reason. When Honor sank his three down the stretch, it was the dagger. Any of them could bury a three against us at the close of a game. It was like destiny or something strange.

Got the opportunity to watch the game with a well known VFL basketball player. You can gripe and groan but he says what I’ve always felt and that is Barnes is too stubborn with his offense and his Practice regiment. He says his teams are wore down and that’s why they rarely advance far in the tourney.

He said expect more attrition as players don’t want to exhaust themselves, and his stubbornness just wears on players. He mentioned a few players present and past by name. A couple of five stars that might have stayed, but didn’t see the value in it.

We don’t have the speed to get through the defense and facilitate like ZZ did, and we don’t have speed and athleticism to harass the ball handler bringing up the ball like ZZ did. Have to find some type of way to replicate it.

I'm actually ok that they played somewhat competitively but lost. No reason to run yourself in the ground with 4 games in 4 days, when the NCAA proved last year that you don't get any seeding reward for winning the SEC.

They still have a chance in March, but any team that can sustain ball pressure and force us to use multiple ballhandlers will beat us easily, if they can shoot. Maybe they can get lucky with their NCAA draw and matchup with un-athletic teams that sit back in a passive defense or teams that are good defensively but bad offensively, like us (like Virginia, Kansas, Arkansas, Northwestern, TCU?)

Outcoached and outplayed.

Yes! The MO coach was the better coach against Barnes 2 out of 2 games this year.
I’m a Barnes fan, but I would trade him for the MO coach. He is cool demeanor and his payers reflect his style.
And he had a great play after every time out.
