The Official #17 Tennessee vs. #25 Missouri Game Thread, 3:30 PM ET, ESPN

Who gives a crap about just shooting 3s at a decent percentage? It’s about having a guy that can score without having a wide open shot that they’re going to miss 6 times out of 10. Grant is playing in the nba. I’d wager Santiago never does. He’s a good ball player. That’s it.

You said he was one dimensional, that's idiotic or trolling. You continuing to try and move the goal post because you're just too stubborn to admit you've made some dumb claims.

1. Santi is without a doubt a better shooter than Grant, and 3 PT% is a better measuring of that than looking at FG% since Grant spent 80% of his career shooting damn layups.
2. Santi is the exact opposite of one dimensional

Now...if you want to say Grant was a more consistent scoring threat, then obviously he was. More points and higher FG% support that claim. But both were one dimensional scorers, one just lived under the basket and the other 25' away. Who is playing in the NBA doesn't have dick to do with the conversation at hand though.

Vincent Yarbrough was arguably a better player than both and only spent 1 season in the NBA.

Lol. Grant’s resume and skill is far superior to both. Sec player of the year….twice. All American. All
sec. Yea I’m digging.

You don't compare shooting percentages, ace, when one guy is shooting treys and the other specialized in making shots within 6 feet of the basket. Seriously, this conversation is stupid.

Dumbing down Grant’s offensive ability to simply hitting “layups” is being willfully ignorant.

No one is disputing that!

You started it all by saying Grant is a way better shooter. Hilarity ensued.

”LOL”. Enjoy your evening. I’m watching the Baseball Vols….

Obviously 39% is better because you’re shooting a large chunk from 3 point range when it would be nice if you could just score 2 when we really need it.

I just scanned some post. Most were “woe is me my team lost” somebody feel sorry for me stuff BUT if anybody here is questioning SV play today…be sensible and show yourselves out… because he played as hard as possible and hit some huge shots. If our entire team played like he did…it would be noticeable. Our team will miss SV next year more than any other single player.
Vescovi was terrific. If he had been tall enough to play one of the post positions, there is no telling how far we could go. He hit 5 of 9 from 3 point range. We will definitely miss him bad. I will miss him losing a defender on a fake and hitting perfect 3 pointers. I fear some have taken him for granted, but he has been swishing those 3 pointers since the time he arrived 4 years ago. He always came to play even when his shoulder wasn't quite right. He and ZZ were my favorite players to watch.

Basevols making up a little for SEC tournament sadness. Hopefully we rest and our team plays well in the NCAA tournament. They had huge potential, but can never be healthy.

Works both ways.

Not really. His 2 point% isn’t great either. He can’t create his own shot. He’s never been an all American or sec player of the year. Can’t hit clutch free throws. Turns the ball over way too much. I guess Grant was just better at hitting lay ups.

I wouldn't be making predictions after how last season ended for the baseball team.

They have a realistic chance of making it to the 2023 College World Series, however I’m cautiously optimistic for that achievement happening because of they got outplayed by a talented Fighting Irish in the Super Regional in 2 of 3 games.

This is when I get embarrassed for a poster who CLEARLY doesn’t understand the debate. They’ve made a big statement that’s absurd but will continue the debate instead of just going away quietly. 🫢🫢
Right? And like a dumba$$ I was guilty of engaging when the first “lol” response should have alerted me to the futility….

My guy, Grant shot 1064 field goals in his career here, only 103 were from 3 (and he was a career 29.1% from 3). Santi has shot 1006 field goals (before today's game) and 713 were from 3 where he's a career 37.7% (4th for a career in school history).

So which of those is one dimensional exactly?

Career totals:
Santi -1275 points, 452 rebounds, 352 assists, 168 steals, 14 blocks, FG: 39.8%, 3PT: 37.7%, FT: 79.2%
Grant - 1629 points, 678 rebounds, 219 assists, 89 steals, 160 blocks, FG: 51.6%, 3PT: 29.1%, FT: 75.8%

And the craziest part is that because of his shortened freshmen year and COVID Santi has played just 111 games (so far) to Grant's 104.

Santi leaves top 3 in 3 pointers made, top 5 in 3 point %, top 10 in defensive rebounds, top 7 in steals, top 7 in steals per game, top 7 in assist percentage per game, top 5 in steal percentage, top 5 in defensive win shares, top 10 in win shares

But yeah he's "one dimensional"

I’m sure there will be a lot of people who disagree with me on this, but imo, Vescovi will go down as one of the better guards to play at Tennessee. He won’t play in the nba, but the guy can score, does a great job of hunting his shot, and he makes a lot of winning plays that don’t go down in the stat sheet. Also he’s as tough as nails. Just an excellent college player. Dude will have a long career playing overseas.

I just wished that Barnes would learn a lesson from the way the game is played and for one recruit and sign at least two more scoring type point guards. Im sure he passes on multiple type guys each year that he feels doesnt meet his standards. We need a couple guys who can create their own shot yet dont have to score 20 a game. 6 to 8 and control the pace without turning it over consistently And recruit some post players that have some dang balls. We need some guys with the attitude to go get buckets and quit this fade away girlish play. Be physical and punish the rim. And if your going to recruit these 5 star guys like Phillips tell them to gain 25 pounds before they get on campus so a slight wind doesnt knock them down..

Absolutely none of that changes the idiotic statements YOU made saying Grant was a better shooter & Santi was one dimensional. Trying to drag this into a Grant vs Santi debate isn’t changing that.
