I don’t think they took the 3 points they score off that false call.Did anybody ever hear what they finally called on the play right before the half with Fulky? I thought I heard they made a ruling change during the half. Is that true? They can't move that foul to Santi if that is what they did because the call was a player control charge call, you know the one with the hand on the back of the head with a forward lunge with the other hand.
Did anybody get the whole truth?
I don’t think they will jump to a 1 seed quite yet. Here’s their metrics....I wonder if they'll bump Duke to #1 ?
There is also the potential for a "Coach K Farewell" bias. If they are even in the argument for a 1 seed going into Selection Sunday, I think that's what they will get.I don’t think they will jump to a 1 seed quite yet. Here’s their metrics....
NET: 12th
KenPom: 5th
BPI: 10th (ESPN)
SOS: 57th (ESPN)... 28th (TeamRankings)
SOR: 11th (ESPN)
Not a single metric has them in the top 4. I used ESPN and TeamRankings for their SOS and SOR but I don’t really put much weight into ESPN’s metrics. But that’s where they stand as of now. They have benefited from a weaker schedule with the ACC being way down this year.
To compare... here are Tennessee’s metrics:
NET: 9th
KenPom: 11th
BPI: 6th (ESPN)
SOS: 2nd (ESPN)... 1st (TeamRankings)
SOR: 12th (ESPN)
The numbers would say we are a better team but the committee definitely implements the eye test regardless of what they say and the fact that they are Duke and have only lost 4 games puts them higher than us. They have won less Quad 1 games than us and have two Quad 2 losses and one Quad 3 loss. I think the 1 seeds after tonight would be Gonzaga, Arizona, Baylor, and Kansas. I think Auburn would slide out of the top 4 due to their three losses in their last six games.
If they changed it to a SV foul, then it was a good call. But, if it was on Fulk, horrible call
They explained that on the broadcast coming back after the halftime highlights. They changed that call to Vescovi and another off of Fulky...the record showed three, Barnes got it reduced to one.
Double checked the DVR this morning and the call they made AT THE TIME for sure was on Fulky. If it had been on Santi since they were in the bonus they would have been shooting, not just awarded the ball on a player possession foul. So, it is now the certified worst CHARGING call in the history of at least the SEC. The three point line is a handy point of reference to see he had no movement toward the defender and was moving the ball away from the contact to hand it to Santi on the cut.
Even so, just watched the replay and Wendell Green just ran straight into Santi as he's trying to get around the screen. He clearly didn't extend his arm or anything like that. Mind boggling call.No they did not call the foul on Fulk….ever. The announcers made a mistake. I sat just behind the scorers table and watched the ref call and report the foul on 25….it was never called on John.
He is so spot on about that chant. Its the same as saying our team basically isnt good either. It’s embarrassing to hear fans of another top 25 team do that. If Tennessee was 7-20 i still woulnt like it.What Rick Barnes said after Tennessee’s big win over Auburn
Read this presser and I totally agree with Barnes on the overrated chant we heard during the game. Also, it was good to read how he wanted the players to enjoy their win. I love our coach—Barnes has brought this program back to national prominence and has done it the right way. So many things to look forward to for this season and the future.
Yeah, and started in the student section yet again. I have to say there’s a subsection of our student base that has no clue.He is so spot on about that chant. It agree. It's dumb and low class and as noted ultimately demeans the chanters' team. I think it originated at Duke or UVa or the like, where the student body has far too high an opinion of themselves. He is so spot on about that chant.
