Unfortunately those two emotions are are VERY OFTEN combined. They are NOT exclusive of each other. For example, when Joe trotted on the field, how many games did Bru and and our portal phenom who were supposed to backfill our losses from last season not? How many games did our center not play or play at a diminished capacity? On a thin and suspect defense how many games did Pili and Carter play at LB? Were we really down our starters at safety and early lost one of their backups in the GA game? Did we really lose our best CB, arguably our worst position for the season?
Can our younger guys beat the curve and play at a needed level next year. Can we plug some holes with the portal and they actually get to contribute for MOST of a season? If you don't factor stuff like this in, then the basis of your analysis is delusional. Those that felt confident enough to enter this season with unwavering EXPECTATIONS instead of HOPE do have some real logic flaws involved.
Then to repeatedly publicly take shots at VOLS, coaches and players, and then get testy when their LOYALTY is challenged are missing a rationality gene. With all the moving parts involved this season, to feature MAD over SAD when dealing with shared disappointment is very telling about the emotional maturity of our very own group in the "EVERY TEAM HAS THEM" category. Potential vs probability is what it was and has been. But for SURE, Joe and other statistical underperformers have not demonstrated a lack of character even when the pain levels were up. They have not thrown others under the bus, with a much better fact set to base that on, like those in the stands and in front of their TV's wearing ORANGE stuff. Years like this sure do lower the character level in the ORANGE fan trenches. At least it has not YET reached mattress burning level. Those years have real costs.
