Love how quickly they get the VAR reviews done for offside, but hate that they don’t produce graphics for us to see in real time like the Hawkeye reviews in tennis. Sometimes they eventually show them, and other times they just never do.

I don't think that was the positioning of those 2 players at the instant the ball was played. The Iranian defender's back foot looked behind Weah's entire body.
That’s my issue with it. It just simply didn’t look that way on any of the replays. It looked incredibly close when they showed the wide shot where you could see the ball played into him, but this makes it look like almost his entire body was offside.

Didn’t realize that, thanks, makes sense.

I know angles can be deceiving, and the live shot is at an angle, but they were conveniently right by the darker strip of grass when the ball was played. Dude was clearly onside. The automatic review I'm sure is an accurate depiction of the position of their bodies at some point, but it can't be at the exact instant the ball was played.

I think it was so close that the photos circulating on Twitter are a split second before the pass is actually initiated and that split second lets Weah be offside. The photos I keep seeing used, like the one above, seems like McKennie is about to hit the ball but hadn’t yet.
