The Official 2025 March Madness Discussion Thread

So far I have missed McNeese State/Clemson, Arkansas/Kansas, Colorado St./Memphis. Thankfully have none of those losers going past the next round.

Maryland is a sneaky good team.
They’re my sleeper for the final four. I think they can upset Florida in an S16 matchup, unless the Gators play like they did in the SECT.

If they pull off the upset, it’s hard to see anyone else in their region beating them in the E8.

Well, the Round of 64 is roughly 75% over and so far it has been a bit underwhelming of a start to the tournament. It does feel like college basketball is pretty top heavy this year, and the tournament is kind of showing that so far.

I have wondered how long it would take for NIL/portal to impact the competitiveness of some of these early games, and this year we’re seeing a bit of that show.

I’m hoping that it leads to a great S16 and E8, at least. But this has been a very disappointing tournament and it’s the first time I’ve ever been outright bored during March madness.

I think more than NIL, though, the problem is that seeding was really bad this time around. Every upset so far feels less like underdogs punching above their weight, and more “this team should’ve been a much higher seed”. Drake and McNeese State were not double digit seeds, and Creighton and Gonzaga were not 9 seeds. They really dropped the ball with it.

It's first round. Round of 32 has got some really good matchups.

Norfolk State had a good game against us earlier this year but are definitely not playing to that level right now. Florida isn’t playing down to them either.
