The Official 2nd Amendment Appreciation Thread

Same thing with my Mosquito...mini mags or nothing. I'm probably selling it to a friend for he and his wife to have a plinker and something for her to practice with.

I see an SR22 in my future.

I'll post the rest of mine when I get home...

I'm going to get some work done on my Mosquito and keep it.

You'll love the SR22 if you can find one that's not priced outrageously.

The only one I have in the house right now is a Smith & Wesson Sigma. I really want to get a SIG P226 some time.

Having a hard time deciding between the SIG or Glock debate can I get your thoughts?

Sig is a good gun, but you do have to fire good ammunition through it or you will have problems. No Winchester white box or after 100 or so rounds you'll start to have misfires.

The Glock can eat just about anything all day long.

I've seen some 325-350 so I can deal with that. Market in general seems like its getting somewhat back to normal.

I don't dislike the Sig at all, I just like to change it up a lot. I've had my Mosquito for a while now so I figured I'd try something else for a while.

To me the biggest differences (beyond price) are trigger systems and ergonomics. Glocks simply do not fit my hand at all.

I'm also more partial to a DA/SA trigger system as opposed to a striker-fired system.

Besides those issues, Glocks are less expensive and accessories are less expensive. I believe mags are pretty interchangeable across a number of guns too.

I've lusted after the Sig p226 (Dark Elite or TacOps) and to a lesser extent the Sig p239. The SRT (short reset trigger) that is now available is amazing. Sigs also have a reputation for having the best DA trigger pull in the business if you are partial to DA/SA triggers.

Personally I'd go Glock. Sig's are nice too but you're gonna pay more.

But my personal company I'd go with is Springfield.

Even without the discount?

What's your thought on the grip safety on the XDs? Doesn't bother me but I've seen endless debates online about how it could be problematic in a critical use situation.

The XDm 5.25 has captured my attention on several occassions.

Last question - did you put Talon's or anything else on your XDs .45 grip?

The SR22 is definitely a great plinker. My dad has one too and he loves it.

Cheap fun

I don't think I'd have a problem with a "critical use" situation :)

I have a full size XD that I also love.

Haven't done a thing to any of my pistols

Personal experience with the Sig?

In my experience they handle everything (not speaking of the Mosquito).

I've run all sorts of stuff through my p232 with no problems.

FWIW, my P238 hasn't been all that picky about ammo. Other than the skeeter that's the only Sig I've dealt with. I had a P250 that I traded away without shooting.

Yes, did a tactical course with a 229 9mm and after 100-200 rounds started to have issues. By the end of the day I was ready to throw it down range. Couple other guys shooting Sigs had the same problems. The guys with the Glocks and SW went all day without issue.

We were all using white box ammo. Ran a bunch of Hornady and CCI Blazer through it another day without hardly any miss feeds or misfires.

Same here, my p238 loves any type of ammo you put through it. Have even shot steel through it without a single jam.

sounds unusual to me - I've researched a ton on Sig's and other than the Mosquito haven't heard much at all about ammo pickiness (exception being original p938s had extraction issues across the board).

That's a cool little gun - definitely on my "want" list.

Any issues getting the 7-round mags?

No, they're just pricey. Anywhere from $30-$40 for the authentic Sig brand. I'm like you though, I've been drooling over the 226. Just can't justify the cost right now.

Could have been a one off deal.

Sig is a good weapon would definatly own another and like you I like the looks of the 226 just can't bring myself to buy one.

2 more years of tuition then I can without listening to the wife.

For some reason I'm hot on .380's. I love my Sig p232 and like all in that genre including the Walther PPK (of course), the CZ 83, Beretta 85 fs (both recently discontinued) and the Bersa Thunder .380.

I'd love to find the Beretta for a reasonable price.

Speaking of CZ's (75 in particular) anyone have one? I've heard great things about them.
