The Official 2nd Amendment Appreciation Thread

For some reason I'm hot on .380's. I love my Sig p232 and like all in that genre including the Walther PPK (of course), the CZ 83, Beretta 85 fs (both recently discontinued) and the Bersa Thunder .380.

I'd love to find the Beretta for a reasonable price.

Speaking of CZ's (75 in particular) anyone have one? I've heard great things about them.

If you find a Colt Mk IV .380 for less than $800 you should jump on it....

On the CZ, a buddy of mine had one, and it would shoot anything and never had any problem...

Have heard the same plus that they are highly accurate and mild shooters.

The only negative I've heard is that they finishing on the interior can be rough but it doesn't impact the performance.

I fondled one with a custom shop match trigger that was crazy light and crisp.

They look cool too.

The CZ 75 is pretty much the best kept secret in the gun world. Great guns, great prices, very good quality.

Volinbham, drive up to trussville and go to BPW, they had some smoking deals on the 75's last I checked.
Cheers

Bought my last 2 there - dangerous place :)

Actually, they are my favorite LGS now with Mark's being a close second (have treated me well). SE Guns has a good selection but some of the guys there are a-holes.

Last trip to BPW I didn't see much in the CZ catagory. They did have the Steyr I've always thought was cool though (M9?)

I agree about SE Guns. Thats exactly why i was glad BPW opened, they needed some competition. Boy did they ever get it lol

Sometimes BPW gets in some of the older surplus CZ75's and they go for around $275-$300 get it parkerized and you basically have a brand new handgun.

There is another place in Gadsden called B&B, they have the best selection around other than Hoover Tac.

I have had several CZ pistols over the years, they have always served me well. Great pistol for not a lot of money.
Cheers

Nice article on the 75

My wife has decided she wants a revolver. I'm fairly pleased about that. She does very well with a .38 so I'm comfortable with her carrying one. I did not have high hopes for how she would handle one but she took to it naturally.

I default towards LCRs or Smith Airweights but she (no surprise) has her eyes on the pink Charter. She's looked at the Taurus .38s as well.

Any opinions?

The only thing I've heard about Airweights is that they can be painful to shoot.

Is there a range where you can rent some options?

I had a .357 LCR. Ruger makes a quality product.

I get the ease of operation angle but why do people always recommend women get a revolver for cc. The little ones may not be the most pleasant things to shoot. I would think something like the p238 or lcp or lc380 would be a better choice

just make sure it's a hammerless model, it will carry better in a purse

The M&P Shield and Springfield XDs are good options for a cc. I bought my wife the M&P Shield. Shoots smooth. Recoil isn't bad at all for such a small gun.

The house lol. I've got an LCR, Dad's got an airweight, surely I can scrounge up a Taurus or Charter at work...

Here's what I'm 'packin'....its always given me a quiet confidence and has helped me out of a couple of jams as well...

To me the biggest differences (beyond price) are trigger systems and ergonomics. Glocks simply do not fit my hand at all.

I'm also more partial to a DA/SA trigger system as opposed to a striker-fired system.

Besides those issues, Glocks are less expensive and accessories are less expensive. I believe mags are pretty interchangeable across a number of guns too.

I've lusted after the Sig p226 (Dark Elite or TacOps) and to a lesser extent the Sig p239. The SRT (short reset trigger) that is now available is amazing. Sigs also have a reputation for having the best DA trigger pull in the business if you are partial to DA/SA triggers.
Got my 226 TacOps about 6 weeks ago.
