The Official 2nd Amendment Appreciation Thread

Gun show was nuts this weekend. $1100 for 1000 rounds of 5.56, and the whole pallet was sold in about 30 minutes.
Can't say I am surprised. What kind of turnout did they have? Did vendors have much to offer? I have not been to a show since Davidson Co. government ran Bill Goodman's show out of the Nashville Fairgrounds.

They had a lot to offer, but everything was overpriced by about 50-100%+. Especially ammo. There were a ton of desperate buyers there.

Delton AR’s for $900. LOL. $350 gun. Etc, etc. about what you’d expect right now. Lots of panic buying.

I saw a S&W M&P-15 selling for over $1,500 the other day. $500 gun a year ago.

What is Academy charging for the 9mm and 5.56/.223? How early are you getting in line? My buddies here have had no success whatsoever.

They open at 9am and I try to get there about 20 minutes early. The current delivery days they have here are Tuesday-Thursday-Saturday. Last Thursday I was probably about 75th in line and got 3 20 rd boxes of 5.56. Tuesday a friend went with me and we were about 15th in line and I got over 1000 rds of 5.56/.223 and 200 rds of 9mm (steel case). Today I was probably close to 75th in line again. They got no 9mm at all in so I just got 3 boxes of .223. Price for basic 55gr 5.56/223 is about $.50 per round. I got some 62gr 5.56 M855 that was $.55 per round. I also got a 520 rd box of steel case .223 for $170. Some people don’t like steel but I’ll shoot it. Haven’t bought a lot of 9mm lately but the steel case stuff I bought the other day was $50 for 200 rounds. I bought some 50 round boxes before Christmas that ran about $14 or so a box. Most defensive type rounds for 9mm run about $1 per round. Also the 5.56/.223 specialty type rounds are about $1 a piece as well. I don’t buy much of that but I think I’ve paid about $18 for a 20rd box of Hornady Black and maybe $22 for a 20rd box of Sierra game ammo. Oh yea, 3 box limit on pretty much everything (including if you mix n match) but it doesn’t matter if it’s 3 500 round boxes or 3 20 round boxes.

Those are great prices, right now. Glad you've been able to score!

If I ever see basic .223/5.56 in the smaller stores, it's $1. 9 mm is close to that.

I was doing ok ordering online at Cabela’s before Christmas but they must’ve stopped selling online after the first of the year because I haven’t found anything. Luckily I’ve done ok at academy. Three days a week it looks like Black Friday.

Depends on which Academy you are going to. at the Academy of Knoxville, you have to be there a minimum of one hour before the store opens in order to get any ammo most of the time. some guys get there at midnight and camp out.
I was getting some good scores this summer and fall going to Bass Pro and Academy on my lunchbreaks, so 2-3 hours after they were already open. Like you said, nowadays if you're not there super early there is no shot. The last couple of times I tried it, I went to Cool Springs Academy and got in line about 10 minutes before opening. One time I got zilch (ran out before my turn) and the other I got three of 20 rd boxes of 5.56. I made the mistake of speaking poorly about people reselling ammo to the guys in line in front of me and it turned out that's why they were there. One of them actually had to get on the phone with his buyer to be told what to buy based on what was left when he got to the shelves. Most of our LGS in Nashville are smart enough to watch Armslist and see what the flippers are asking so they can stay under those prices.

LGS is at $14.99 for a box of PMC 5.56. I’ll probably pick up at least 100 rounds tomorrow
