If you’re talking about a metal frame Mark IV the only con is you won’t find a new one anywhere and used are selling well over full retail new price. I saw a used aluminum Mark VI target with 6” barrel for $700 at Franklin Arms & Ammo website. That should be a $500 gun new. Rumor is Ruger is discontinuing steel frame Mark VI but I cannot confirm. Also be aware of Mark VI serial numbers that were subject to the recall. If I was really thinking about spending $700 or more for a used Mark VI, I might just squeeze out another six or seven hundred and order a Volquartsen. The Ruger 22/45 is much easier to find in stock but you probably don’t want something lightweight for bullseye shooting. Was invited into a local shooting club. Only thing they shoot is .22 pistols at 25 yards and it’s a competition on stationary and moving targets, not sure of all the rules yet. Some really good shooters in the group.
Looking at either the Ruger mark 4 or Browning buckmark that I can put a mini red dot on. Pros/cons suggestions?

And if you do see a steel frame Mark Vi that wasn’t subject to the recall, buy it.
Checked my local Gun shop today and they had a new standard Mark 4 available priced at $450 and a new Buck Mark at right around $560. The owner said it’s been about 6 months since he’s got a Ruger target model with threaded barrel in but he has some in order, that’s the one I really want.If you’re talking about a metal frame Mark IV the only con is you won’t find a new one anywhere and used are selling well over full retail new price. I saw a standard today. First time I’ve seen a new Mark IV metal frame since before Christmas.Checked my local Gun shop today and they had a new standard Mark 4 available priced at $450 and a new Buck Mark at right around $560. This is the Browning they have that I’m thinking about getting now and just waiting on the Ruger I want to show up.
Buck Mark Plus Stainless UDX
Only shooting someone else’s and it did not have fiber optic sight. Looks sweet. My guess is that quality, accuracy, and extra mag cost are all close enough as to not be an issue. Mark IV takes down with one button push. Buckmark takedown starts with using an Allen wrench to remove two screws.Any experience with the Buck Mark?
