The Official 2nd Amendment Appreciation Thread

Springfield 911 is a nice little 380. Round capacity is going to be an issue with most if that’s something that’s a concern.

Say, theoretically, that you wanted to get your recoil-aversive, gun-nervous better half a concealable handgun that she might learn with, become comfortable, and would still be enough to neutralize a threat, if ever necessary. . . .

What would you guys suggest?

Giving somebody that is new, nervous and "recoil-averse" a small light gun is the wrong move. Have her learn on something no smaller than a Glock 19. A 17 would be even better.

My wife's nightstand gun is a Ruger LCR 22WMR. It's right for her.
My wife has a Ruger sr 22 she really likes. She knows she will have to keep pulling the trigger till the threat is down but she can keep it on target better than the lcp2. Most of the time she carries a Ruger EC9. She says the EC9 is less snappy than the smaller lcp2 and still no too big.

My wife loves her sig p938, she enjoys shooting it more than some of the larger handguns like glock 19, cz p-01. I think it just fits her hand better. The sig 365 and cz p10s are other good options that are slightly larger. Follow Grand Vol's advice and take her to a rental range to find one she's comfortable with

Someone, came out with a 22 self defense round recently. I have not actually seen Any on a shelf, but it is supposedly legit.

Federal punch is what I was thinking of.

Thanks for the advice y'all.

Another question: any of you guys make Kydex holsters and sheaths? Is it difficult? I was thinking about giving it a try.

I'd order a quality one from a reputable company especially for a firearm. Anrdesign, tier 1 concealed, legacy firearms company, or trex arms is located in Tennessee are all good holster companies. Armatus carry makes bunch of knife sheaths and Anrdesign will cusrom make sheaths if you send in your knife.

Sorry no experience making my own

Alright knowledgeable people.
I’ve encountered a Ruger 1. It’s chambered in 244 special.
Wtf is 244 special? I’ve heard of 244 Remington, which is also 6mm Remington. So….is 244 special actually 244 Remington?

I have a G42. Limp wristing can affect cycling of the action with a hesitant shooter. Plus, no external safety which can be a mental hurdle for some.

The one and only time my wife went to a gun show with me at Nashville fairgrounds, she came home with a Colt Defender in .45. I was kinda like “really?”, but that’s what she wanted. I think she’s fired it twice in the past decade.
GVG's favorite is a P226 TacOps. Yes, with the threaded barrel and 19 round mags. She drives tacks with it. Can carry it concealed though.

Okay guys & gals, has it really been three days and nobody either bought a gun, shot a gun, or thought about a gun enough to tell us about it ?!?!?

Well, I did pick up 500 rounds of Speer 75 GDSP (5.56) and 150 rds of Hornady 230 HST (.45), both at Bone Frog. But that's about it recently. I'm beyond fat on ammo, both 5.56 and .45. I could probably never buy another round and have more than I will ever shoot for the remainder of my days. Still...hard to pass up a decent deal on good ammo. Somebody will shoot it, one day.

I am looking at a 6933 EPR upper for the SBR. Already have a standard spare 6933 upper, but the EPR upper is free-floated.

Maybe I can get a deal on a Stryker on Taliban.com.

I had Deltapoint Pro on my IWI Masada, and hated it. Don’t get me wrong……it’s a great optic; however not at all (for me) for what I want it for.

It’s freakin huge, which I don’t necessarily mind…..but the body itself is huge, that…..I do mind. The window is amazing, the dot is great and for maybe competition shooting or plinking…..it would be perfect.

However I wanted something I could co-witnesses with (and I have suppressor sights). Anyway a while back I had put my SRO on it and loved it. However I really like the SRO on something else I have. So I decided I would get something else that would do the trick.

I had decided on a Swampfox Justice because of the large window size (and RMR footprint). However I just kept thinking about the SRO…….but wasn’t willing to shell out the $$ for another (and hear my wife complain about it), so I looked around for a bit.

I came across the Vector Frenxy 1x22x26. This has a shape and window similar to the Trijicon SRO. I tried to research these but didn’t have a ton of luck. Most seemed to be around $200 which is inline with the Swampfox…….but I finally found one for $125.

I figured at that price I could take a chance. Well so far I’m glad I did. Now I don’t have thousands of rounds on this yet…..but so far so good. The dot is great, the glass and window are amazing. For what it is……I’m certainly glad I picked it up. I also feel confident with it. However in no way do I believe this would have the same durability as an RMR or even a Holosun…….so not good for duty, or SHTF, or even heavy tactical classes……but god for night stand, home defense, edc CC, and range fun.

Again this isn’t my first choice for a pistol red dot. I currently have 8 and this is about middle of the road (but probably the cheapest one I have). This wouldn’t be the most durable…..but it’s a good one, it’s holding up, it holds zero, and because of the window……you can pick up the dot very easily.

If your in the market for an RMR footprint red dot, you want something that works, and it’s not going to ever be in a rock and roll jump off a cliff situation and you want/need it cheap……the Vector Frenzy 1x22x26 could be a good option for you. This also has an auto shutoff feature. And you can select one that is more manual or one that is more automatic……I prefer full automatic for EDC (but that is just me).

Also:
If you can swing a bit more, and you don’t care about the large round window size and shape…….check out the Holosun 507c x2 or the Swampfox Justice (27mm window) Liberty (22mm window). Any of these three would be really great optics for the money. They are extremely reliable and very rugged for the cost.

Hey. Want to pick up some 12 & 20 gauge target shells locally in Chattanooga for the weekend. Anyone know of a place other than Academy that might be worth a trip?

I've had mixed luck at local Wal Mart. The Academy here had a few pallets of 12 dove & clay but it all cleared out last weekend with dove season opening.
