The Official 2nd Amendment Appreciation Thread

I've stayed between 5-10 over the years. I knew they were rookie numbers but damn I gotta pump those numbers up.
In the past...a Beretta 92FS, King Cobra .357 6", .22mag cowboy strapper, Ithica 1945 1911, Ruger .22LR target bull barrell, 2-3 shot guns, BAR .270, BBA .270 boss A-bolt, Marlin 30-30, Winchester 30-06 Field Master, Hawken .50 cal.

Not much now. S&W M&P Shield EZ .380, one shotgun .20 guage single, Mossberg .243, Marlin 30-30, and an in-line black powder. The 3 rifles are my sons.

Anyone like Dan Wesson 1911s? Picked up this like new ECO and am extremely happy with it. I traded my Sig Spartan 1911 and a Para 1911 for it...think I got the better end of the deal. Should be a great carry gun...I have a Milt Sparks Criterion coming in tomorrow. I'll be done trading and buying for a while now.

Very nice piece.

Folks get carried away with mag capacity. Outside Hollywood, if most of us don't hit by round 2, there will be no need for the 3rd shot. If we even practice enough to get it pulled out in time for self defense in the first place. Pulling out of the night stand if I hear a door opening that shouldn't be is where the 15 round is usefull, and I normally had the spare mag laying beside it. Don't have to really worry about that where I live now. I've fallen asleep with the front door open. In my neck of the county, if someone pulls in the drive at night I'm normally out to the porch already with the light flipped on so they can see I'm holding. And that very rarely happens suspiciously. My drive is somehoe a favored turn around spot though. So, I keep one eye peeled. Summer is the worst cause they don't know my drive from the route to state park entrance on their GPS. Before the park, putting in the falls would take you to my house. Seems alot of idiots don't know to put 'State Park' in their search or they'd end up at the gate.

There was the time my wife was home alone and two rednecks pulled all the way up to my circle about, and hung out at their car, pissing in my drive. The S&W was bought soon thereafter. Or people just pulling into the fields and looking for arrowheads or bumping hips. I embarrassed the heck outta that 'lil Chica after I scared the crap out of them. Only the tail end of the car was sticking outts the tree line. Said they were looking for the park. Told them they wouldn't find it in there and to gtf out. Folks seem to have adjusted to us being there full-time now.

I never shot a 15 round mag at capacity at the range, and I'm not sure public ranges allow emptying a full mag anyway. Even rifles I only chambered one at a time. Pistols maybe 5. Safety courtesy so folks won't have to wait on rednecks to empty 15 shots to walk downrange. And carrying high round mag pistols concealed kinda defeats the carry comfort and purpose.
