The Official 2nd Amendment Appreciation Thread

Check out 2VA / 2vetarms

Only problem I've seen with their system is the proprietary parts. A standard AR is reasonably simple to swap parts out on and most anyone's parts can be used. But with the side charging types of designs the company always has a chance of going out of business and the parts dry up.

I appreciate all the input guys.

I've decided I'm going custom built. Did a lot of reading on some high quality parts that will fill the need I'm looking for out of this weapon.

And still stay with in the budget I have for this project. Until it's time for optics. Then I'll be back in here again looking for opinions.

Got some VZ thin G-10 grips for the new CZ. This is the "frag" pattern in black cherry

The CZ was one of the few pistols I've ever fondled that had factory grips that I liked.

They are nice - good ergos but having small hands I needed to reduce the profile. These VZs feel great, nice grip but not cheese grater and make an appreciable difference in the DA reach in particular. Given it's a stout DA I need all the reach I can get.

Same thing for the 226 and the E2 grips. Pre-E2 it was just a bit to fat. With the E2 (and the short reach trigger) it fits very well.

The VZs on the CZ get it pretty close to 1911 size.

The E2 is definitely an improvement over the standard grips (I have the girly hand syndrome too) on Sigs.

The only other grips besides the CZ grips that felt natural to me was the Browning BDM. Probably the greatest pistol that never reached mainstream status.

I was down to a used Sig p239 which fit well because of the single stack and the CZ. In the end the CZ was still a bit cheaper new and I wanted to add to the variety. Both are about the same size/weight but the CZ holds 14 to the Sigs 8 (or 9 I can't remember).

Still like that Sig though

Sigs are notorious for being fat little guys. I liked the 228 as it was way slimmer than the 229. The 239 was okay (ex had one) but a heavy sucker.

Had to order a 10 round mag for my Glock online because I cannot import my 15 round mags into CA when I move back :(

Even the preexisting ones?

Thought they were grandfathered in provided they were produced prior to a certain date.

I am not risking a Felony over five rounds

I wasn't suggesting you should. I was saying that one of the staunchest anti-gunners in Cali just got busted for gun smuggling (which is ironic and hilarious)

So it's a good start on cleaning out the legislature and hopefully getting people in with common sense. Though I don't see that happening.

No, I know. I agree with you. I was just talking out loud

Hey SDV, did you have a concealed carry permit in CA?

I didn't. They were too restrictive at the time. I got on in TN when I got back here in October.

They just passed a CA Supreme Ct case to ease up the restrictions, so once that decision is final, I will probably get one.
