The Official 2nd Amendment Appreciation Thread

Need some suggestions for a holster. Going to be getting my carry permit soon. Also, I will be carrying while hunting as well. So ease of access is a need for me. I've did some research on a few but want some opinions for you all.

Leather, milt sparks

Kydex, raven concealment

The belt you choose is actually more important than the holster.

I personally use milt sparks belts or ares armor belts.

Have any of you guys ever shot a handgun that wasn't ammunition specific? That would shoot anything you put in it? Not a revolver but a semi auto?

Bersa Thunder .380. Literally shoots anything I put in it. A lot of people have a misconception about Bersa because they're inexpensive guns, but go shoot one for yourself and you'll see the build of the gun is actually phenomenal. Accuracy is also incredible.

Ditto on the Thunder. Shoots any damn thing you can find.

Ruger SR22 has proven to be the least picky .22 pistol I've ever had. I'm frankly amazed with it.

Another vote for the Bersa.

I have the SR22 and the only time I have problems is if I fill the mag all the way. I usually put 9 in and it rarely has a problem. It's a fun gun

Thanks chaps, she's a tack driver with the Russian surplus 7N6 52 grain ammo that has unfortunately been outlawed for some stupid reason. Good thing I bought plenty of it huh? Lol
Cheers

SIAP... I just found this thread and a couple of Bersa comments. I also have the .380 and the only issue I ever had was the occasional jam. A friend told me that the spring was usually a little stiff. The fix was to load the mag to the max and leave it. He was correct. Over a short period of time, this only mild compression solved the issue. The price difference between the Bersa and some of my others made the Bersa one of my best buys.

Shot a S&W 500 today at the range, that things a blast. Also shot my buddy's new SW AR.

500's do tend to garner attention. After firing one cylinder at a local range pretty much everybody in the place was lined up behind my stall to see what the hell was going on.

Yeah, the .500's are kinda ridiculous. :)

When one considers that about the most you're really going to get out of a .44 Mag are 325gr loads churning out maybe 1350 ft/lbs of energy compared to 500's getting 440gr (and an additional 17% bump in bullet diameter) loads at 2600+ ft/lbs you get the idea that it's just another animal. Granted you don't have to always be shooting the monster mashers. Some of the 350gr loads aren't really all that bad. Everything I've fired has plenty of noise and muzzle flash though.

Now having said that the pistols are enormous and weigh a lot. That helps with recoil somewhat (though there's still gobs of that in the big loads) but makes them fairly impractical to carry.

I'm in the boat with DTH hopefully someone steps in and brings Colt out of the hole

What is Colts idea of a new product line? "Hey, let's remake the 1903 pocket pistol" good lord, really?

IMO they should take advantage of the true shortage of fighting revolvers on the market and bring out a scaled down Python. Or, lead the push for a polymer framed 1911. Something, anything, besides the obvious stuff that isn't working.

Colt doesn't even make revolvers other than the SAA any more, do they? And they're nice as far as I know but for the money Ruger pretty much owns that market. And for pistols it's pretty much just the 1911, right? Nothing wrong with 1911's either but pretty much EVERYBODY'S got a 1911 (or 3) in their lineup so that's a tough place to make your living even if you are Colt.

Scuttlebutt though it may be I've heard rumors that union issues have been plaguing Colt for some time. Moving out and starting over out from under some of the financial burdens might be in the works.

Yeah, the 1911 market is pretty much as flooded as flooded can be. They only make the SAA at this point, but surely they have the old Python tooling stored somewhere.

My thought was Dirty Harry basically saved a floundering s&w in the early 70's with the model 29 .44 mag. Why not take advantage of the walking dead and produce the Python again? There has to be a market for the firearm used by one of the most popular characters on today's TV. Maybe that cash injection would be the thing they needed, until they could hire a competent marketing and design team. Just spitballing here.

Colt suffers from union problems as well as pathetic ownership.

The 1911 idea isn't a terrible one.
