Powell has not shown the heart, fight, or tenacity that SV has shown. I haven't seen Powell dive after a single lose ball this season.
Sets up perfect for us and Uros if the past is any indication. Didn’t have a great game but it didn’t show too much due to the blowout. However, Uros tends to bring the energy in bigger games and steps up down low (rebounding and some much needed buckets here and there). His primary role (and Fulky’s) on Saturday will be to stifle Dickinson and get him in foul trouble. If Dickinson has to sit on the bench for extended periods of time, Michigan will be in trouble. He’s more important to Michigan’s team than Tshiebwe was to UK IMO. Our small ball lineup may give UM some problems too because they aren’t great defensively (especially their backcourt). If our shots are falling from the perimeter again.... WATCH OUT!!I thought Uros was particularly terrible in this game. Didn't show any presence down low. Didn't move very well and just struggles to finish with authority around the rim I would like to see Aidoo get more minutes moving forward in the tournament
Damn he only played 14 minutes. 2-3 FG’s.. Give him a damn break.I thought Uros was particularly terrible in this game. Didn't show any presence down low. There was absolutely no reason for him to try to “take over”. Heck, how can he rebound very much when we’re hitting almost everything we shoot and he didn’t play half the game? I guarantee you we’ll see more from Uros Saturday. He always has the energy in big games. He’ll do his part. Idk what some people expect out of him because if its 15 points and 10 rebounds every game, that’s not going to happen. That’s not what we have to have out of him although it would be nice.Damn he only played 14 minutes. 2-3 FG’s.. Give him a damn break.
If your definition of struggling is 17-34 50% over last 5 games while hitting bombs from all over the place , even tho teams are game planning to stop him, then you’re right. I hope he keeps struggling for 5 more gamesVescovi seems to be struggling last few games from three. I don’t have the #s in front of me.
Uros always has played like he's not supposed to score. He thinks his role is to rebound, kick the ball out to a guard (even when he's 2 ft from the rim) and cheerlead. I don't know how he's being coached but we so need our big men to take it to the rim with authorityI thought Uros was particularly terrible in this game. Didn't show any presence down low. You must not have read this board the past 2 years as all I heard was Vescovi wasn’t a good enough athlete to play in the SEC. He was just a set shooter who couldn’t dribble with his right hand and was too slow to defend SEC guards. Ask anybody who’s been a regular for 3 years and they will confirm.Vescovi was never a bad athlete. He got stronger and smarter. You can’t change natural ability. He’s always had it. Powell doesn’t have enough of it.

What your discounting is that teenagers can all “improve” their athleticism with enough work and commitment. Not everyone is a freak one and done. Some are late bloomers. Vescovi has worked his tail off and the results speak for themselves
I would never look to this board’s complaints to judge an athlete. He had a bad crossover and slow change of direction and reaction times on D. He got stronger physically. He worked on defensive reactions, dribbling/crossover and cuts. All are way better. They’re actually way better than mid season. Some things can be approved. You can’t change natural ability. Everyone has a ceiling. That’s ok. Powell’s ceiling is lower than SV, but I wish him the best.
Yes. When they over-guarded his right, he’d crossover and turn the ball over. The kid’s improvement is incredible. I was just pointing out that he’s a better natural athlete than Powell.IMO his biggest improvement has been his right hand. As a freshman opponents quickly figured out to not let him go to his left. He also figured out to not force low percentage passes.
Not sure how you’ve decided Powell’s or Vescovi’s athletic ceiling? Also, everything you said before “you can’t change natural ability” supports what I’ve been saying. Powell like several others on the squad need to embrace the offseason S&C program and nutrition program to transform their bodies like Vescovi, Admiral, and Grant. Powell may not have the drive and motivation, we will see. But, this program has a blueprint and a track record of training guys to reach their physical abilities which you are discounting on a first year player in the program.I would never look to this board’s complaints to judge an athlete. Setting the goal posts pretty high at all SEC or bust? I can’t predict how Powell will develop but he did show up on a couple of preseason nba draft boards so some folks think he has potential. If he dedicates himself this off season I think he has the potential to become a solid piece in our rotation but it’s tbd. JMOIf Powell becomes an All SEC player like Santi, you can rub my nose in it and tell me how it was all due to him getting stronger. I don’t see that as much of a likelihood.
