The Official #4 Tennessee vs #16 South Carolina Game Thread, Wednesday 7pm est/ESPN2

I am having trouble believing they won those last 3 games in the fashion that they did. This last one was huge for a number of reasons. Now they can relax and play some basketball.
Right?! It’s as if they let teams play the style they want to play and “ok bet, we’ll beat you that way too”. Crazy

I didn’t get to watch game. How did the refs Do? Did commentators seem to want SC to win? Lol

The refs were terrible and favored USC all night. The commentators couldn’t stop talking about Lamonte and Stute. Hardly mentioned Tennessee at all. And ESPN still hates us.

Really…it was one of the best officiated games we’ve seen this year IMO. The refs let these teams slug it out for the most part and called a consistent 2 halves. If anything I think we probably got the better end of the whistle last night.

We got the good end of the whistle with 30 seconds left... It was a 50/50 foul and we won the whistle game. I will say the trash SC players was talking to the refs didn't help the whistle in their favor.

Great win for the Vols last night! SEC Champs has a nice ring to it! Hope we can get the win Saturday to close out this 4 game stretch against top 20 ranked opponents. That should solidify us getting a #1 seed for the big dance. That would be huge for the program and would not have to play UConn, Purdue, or Houston till the final 4. Go Vols! Beat Kentucky!

We just held an SEC team to less than 60 points on 27% from 3.. Now our rebounding effort was less than desired, will give you that
The biggest problem I saw last night, was the inability to dunk the ball and hit layups. We gave away at least 18 points because we can not hit those shots. The biggest asset of the game was our defense played a championship like game . Great game win for our entire team.

No one fouled out so I guess they didn't screw up the game too much.

I am wondering what damage they can do to UK's season with a win this weekend? Can they knock them out of the double bye? I think the Vols are a 1 seed right now and they need to win to retain it. Still a lot of reasons to beat UK!

That was reminiscent of the first time we played them. It’s like Aidoo goes up too soft and Awaka crashes in too hard. Hair splitting though… Aidoo has been hitting his short jumpers and Awaka remains a beast in the paint, and lately hasn’t been going over the back as much. Nice to have two different guys working inside.

What a night having Grant and Al Wilson sitting together at the game and Tony trying to snag a championship hat from Ziggy during his post game instagram post. Great time to be a Vol. We need to enjoy it while we can.
That’s a fact. Awesome day to be in “Big Orange” country

Absolutely fantastic, gritty road win, especially given the huge stakes. The defense was awesome and DK was remarkable (as usual), and Barnes has so beautifully integrated his skills into the team concept, running high P&R's and having Dalton run around some really creative screening actions to get him free. But then using his gravity and playmaking skills to create good looks for Aidoo and others.

Barnes has been masterful with this group - I'd call it his best coaching job here yet showing what he can do given a generational talent like DK.
The really great thing about this team is the ability to win playing whatever style is necessary, be it a shootout at Kentucky or a rock fight like last night. That bodes very well for the NCAA's, when you could come up against just about anything in a given matchup.

My only slight concern would be the amount of layups and dunk attempts missed. Could be just one of those nights, but we left a good 12-16 points out there on missed bunnies. Something they'll get straightened out.

Announcers were fine - anytime we can avoid the ESPN clowns like Bilas is okay with me, and I like Dykes, even if he repeats some stuff over and over again. He loves DK and this Vols group, and has great respect for what they've done and how far they can go.

The officiating was fine, especially for SEC standards. They let them play, which is how I like to see it called, and there were no egregious missed calls from what I remember.

Dear Tennessee Vols, Thank you for all the late night and early morning workouts. The school work as a student athlete, the long road trips, the frustrations from so many reasons, and sticking to the coaching. You are winners and you need to enjoy that. I am so thankful I’m a Vol this morning. Baseball, Softball, Football, Soccer, Basketball, and all sports. Go Vols! NCAA trophies should be your goal at this point. Go get em.

Great post. We go to the high P&R with Dalton and Jonas when we need a bucket, and it's been great for us. Dalton being unselfish makes it even more of a threat. Like you said, great to see specialized actions to get Dalton the ball in good spots.

I honestly thought they were too lax at times lol. Let the game get away a little bit and I was worried someone was going to get hurt.

We actually shot more FT's than they did which is highly unusual for the road team. It was almost like they were not even there some of the time. I liked it better than the normal tick tack fouls they usually call on us.
