Listening to CBS saying Arkansas needs to get physical to beat Kansas and Tennessee is “very physical.” We know Kentucky is a physical team. Who ever thought the SEC would become the big boy, physical conference in basketball? Love it.

Good first half and we have Duke’s attn. TN must play smart defense without fouling. Awaka nor ON can pick up an early 3rd foul. If so, Uros will play more min which is a liability on offense. We must get 10 points this half from our bigs (ON or Aidoo).

Guard play - four three balls. I say this b/c Duke will go on 2-3 runs so the three ball can end a run quickly and build momentum for the Vols.

Foul shots- must make foul shots. 2-2 in first half.
Defense- be smart and don’t foul. Santi and JJJ can’t pick up early fouls. We need something from JJJ or Key and Mashack and Santi.

Lastly, the officiating has been consistent imo. Duke fans are complaining about the officiating while TN fans are too. W/ that said, hopefully they will allow the game to be physical Inside as that helps TN.

I believe 3 things needs to happen this half to win this game!
1. Keep taking care of the ball. Another half with under 7 turnovers would be fantastic.
2. Can’t let the refs keep Duke in the game. They are gonna try to get into the bonus in the first 6 minutes. We can’t let it turn into a barrage of Fts.
3. If our two 5️‘s can combine for 15pts this half. Just 15! Please guys wake up!

I agree with 3 but I think the players are interchangeable and/or irrelevant. Some combo of JJJ/Key/Mashack/JP will need to be in that 15-20 range. JJJ’s too inefficient today to get there. Can’t afford for him to get 8-10 on volume, because the wasted shots have the potential to turn into points the other way. Key’s not been great but the shots look good and you have to think they eventually fall. JJJ’s haven’t even been close.

They’re going to drive to the basket and see if they get the calls. It’s who they are. If we continue defending the paint, they’re not a good three point shooting team and any semblance of offense by the Vols and this is a double digit win for TN.
