The key to this was missing 6 wide open threes early and not getting a rebound. Just turned it over and didn’t allow defense to get set. Also getting nothing out of the bench to allow Barnes to rest anyone lol
Knecht has also struggled because the guard play around him hasn’t been fantastic or consistent enough to make teams not be able to help down on himI’m concerned about Knecht. Vol fans had high hopes for him and he came out strong, esp UNC. But he is turnover machine and struggling offensively. Hopefully he will find his game but the SEC is a different level than he is used to.
I think this team is still figuring it out but that’s okay would rather them do that later in the season and get hot in march. Barnes deserves at least an elite 8 before he leaves hereThis team just isn’t good away from home, Barnes teams never are. It’s ok considering the program isn’t really a national power without him. Just sucks but that’s Tennessee sports, having big wins and disappointing losses
I think he's legitimately sad because everything he just mentioned is true. Alabama was always big, but Saban bringing them to the top while college football entered a new era of reach and profitability made Finebaum millions and millions of dollars. Finebaum isn't going anywhere, but it probably sucks for him that one of the main reasons he's such a big personality today is exiting the sport. You can tell he is in depression mode
Saw that. He's 0-1 with only 5 minutes. Can't make any from the bench.
We kinda don’t have a choice with Aidoo, awaka isn’t doing any better on defense need both to be more physical simple as thatGainey and Aidoo have to sit the rest of the way. Gainey is a liability right now and Aidoo just doesn’t have it tonight. Barnes is a man to man guy, but might need to consider mixing some 1-3-1 to make the post entry pass more difficult.
On offense, gotta on ball screen the hell out of MSU in the second half and drive it hard to the basket. If they’re going to get up in our shirts like that, get low and drive the ball.
It’s not over yet. Odds definitely aren’t in our favor, but MSU isn’t an offensive juggernaut either. There will likely be a window for us to get back in this one if MSU hits a cold spell like they’re capable of doing.
So here we go blaming officials again instead of the poor shooting, ten first half turnovers, and poor interior defense which led to at least four dunks. Some of ya'll need to chill out. Any team would beat up on Tennessee like this if the refs decided traveling (of all things) wouldn't be called both ways. Things will level out in the second half. State doesn't have the dogs to finish this fight.
